Warranty almost up, anything I should look for?

My factory 2 year warranty is going to expire in December, aside from a leaky jack, and the washer drain leaking I haven't had any other issues. I was just curious what I should look for or have the dealer check out before its out of my pocket.

I would check the door for the seam separation. That seems to be a Biggie. I know I just found out ours has come apart and I am waiting for approval to have the door replaced

I see a lot of posts about the door seam. I'm somewhat confused about exactly what to look for. Can anyone post a picture of what it looks like and is this isolated to the new doors used recently or all doors since Redwood started building RVs?

Rick ~ pretty sure its isolated to the "new and improved" resistance doors that you and I don't have and don't want.

Haven't recalled seeing any issues with the older doors like we have.

no it is only the new ones with the resistance hinge. it is on the hinge side where the metal frame joins with the fiberglass door skin. when you go to push the door closed the fiberglass skins starts to pull out of the metal frame surrounding the door. I had the first one replaced and painted and now the second door is doing the same thing. The pics show the hinge side of the door facing the trailer

I have thought about Drilling about 4 1/4" holes and putting in Rivets to see if that would hold door together. But not until the Claim is approved. I have been waiting for about 2 weeks to here that Redwood has approved the doorreplacement. Good thing I don't treat my customers like that.

I am looking into putting epoxy in there. All they have now is silicone. It is a PITA to get the new white door and then have a painter come out and paint it.

I would have them install a new door without that POS hinge & be done with it.

In order to change the hinges they would have to change out the entire Door frame. I looked at this the other day I don't think RW will pay for that change under warranty.

I know that the hinge is called a "Friction Hinge". If you lube it constantly, do you think it would help?

That does not work on the friction hinge. It has been tried and have had no luck. My understanding is the Door and Frame have to be replaced and door needs to be installed in the closed position. Don't know what is going to happen takes forever to get a response from dealer and Redwood. Hope s door does not get stuck shut with PPL inside and there is a fire. Especially since Redwood knows of the problem. Thinking something needs to be fixed

I am starting to see other manufactures advertise the Friction Hinge Entry Door on their models.

Too bad! Glad ours doesn't have it, we've not any problem with the door banging either. I bought a package of 2 bubble looking door stops for $3 & they just happen to match the paint.

This seems to be another case of cure being far worse than the original issue. In 4 years, I haven't had a problem with the free swinging door on our 36RL. There must be a dirge of capable and competitive suppliers in the RV industry that Redwood could not go to an alternate supplier of a well designed door and frame as soon as the problem became apparent a couple of years ago.

I did the same thing.......sometimes I fear people complicate an issue.

I totally agree - other than a creak that returns to my door regardless of how many times I CPC lube it, the door is a great RV door. The first time I opened one of the new ones I cringed, as it felt just like misaligned hinges, but it's not.

So far we have not had any problems with either one of our "Friction" doors.
The first time I opened on of the doors it at the dealer, I wondered "What is wrong with this Door?"

Now we have been using it so long, when we open a regular door is feels weird.

One nice thing about the "Friction" door on our FL is the front entry door is so close to the awning arm that if the front entry door swings much past 90 degrees when opening it and the awning is open, the door hits the awning arm.
The "Friction" Door prevents this from happening.

I was wondering if you would get used to it. You probably reach out to catch the door when you open one of the old ones thinking you just ripped it out of the hinges!
