Water Softener? yes or no

Hi All,
If I missed it please let me know. Do any of you have a portable water softener in use? or are they not needed. If they are needed what size or brand?
Thanks,
Cliff

I have a new one - On The Go (OTGCWW3M-OTG1-CWI-3M) from Ebay for around $179 - $199. I have only used it for one 6 day, 5 night outing so far, I did recharge it when we got home and purged the water out of it. Seems to work great in the shower.
Time will tell....
Good Luck!!

Absolutely, positively, hell yea! FloPur RV 10000, works great, recharges with table salt about every 30 days. Been using it every day for 4 1/2 years. We have the brown shower & it really helps with the walls & the glass doors. Arizona & Oklahoma have hardest water of any where we've been & would highly recommend using one. I also fill the fresh water tank through the softener.

YES, YES, YES!!!! We have been using ours since 2012. I have had to replace the gold powder in it 1 time due to operator error. Oops. But definitely worth it. I didn't replace the anode rod for 3 years using the softener and it still looked good. As Travelin Texans said, it helps with the water stains in our brown shower and reduces all spots on the faucet and glass.

Also, we've been wintering in AZ the past three years and the softener is necessary for clean spot free dishes in our dishwasher. Soft water, the dishes come out clean and spotless, hard water not so much. We also have the Flo-Pur 10000, and have to regenerate about every two to three weeks depending on water usage.

We use a water softener also. Wouldn't travel without it.

Definitely Yes........This was one of the first purchases I made after the Redwood.

The following link is the product I use..........Portable Double Standard Water Softener:

Water Softeners | On The Go Portable Water Softeners

I removed the whole house filter because it was totally not accessible. I use an inline Culligan filter ahead of the softener.

Hope this helps.

Regeneration frequency will depend on incoming water hardness and water usage. Our Flo-pur 10000 came with a container of hardness test strips and we found in the southwest US, AZ NM UT regeneration would be necessary every two weeks. During this summer, going to the rally and back, most water supplies in the midwest had much softer water than the southwest. In two months on the road, I've only had to regenerate once and our water is still soft. Wouldn't be without it.

Have you installed your water softeners in your trailers or do you just set them on the ground and connect them to the input water source?

I use mine near the water supply shutoff provided by the RV park. I wouldn't want to install it in my coach as regeneration requires some water to be ran through it after regen before reconnecting to coach.

I mounted mine with a sediment filter in a milk crate & just sit it out when we hook up.
I also have the FloPur 10000 & typically have to recharge average about once a month depending on incoming water.
