So I started up my generator yesterday and ran it for a half hour. I noticed that the refrigerator, microwave and tv's would not run. Am I missing a cut over switch or something? What actually can be run while the generator is running?

Thanks

Rik

Don't know what Genny you have installed but my 5kw Onan will run the entire coach. Was the genset installed by RW?

Rick,

I'm assuming you mean the factory Onan? ALL of it should run. You might have popped a breaker on the genny. Open the front cover on the generator and there should be two breakers there to check. If they are both fine, you better check connections in that transfer switch.

The generator may not have the capacity to power all at once, but it doesn't discriminate as to what is powered up or not. Everything should be powered when on generator power.

The generator has the power to run everything. I even ran my house with it during a power failure.

Brad has it right. I had the same situation when I first got the RL. Turns out, one of the two circuit breakers was popped on the Onan. I reset it and all has been well since.

Well that was it. Two 30 amp switches were both turned off. Pretty embarrassed I did not think to look there first. But all is good and now I know. Thanks so much for the direction.

Glad you got it working Rick. I'm glad is was just a breaker rather than chasing down wiring.

I'm glad you asked Rick. We went out for the weekend and found a few things didn't work while the gen was running. Just went outside and one of the breakers on the gen was off ! Thank You everyone !
