Those contacts provide 12 Voltc DC through the door to the Southco door lock mechanism/receiver.

I would guess that is the electric connection for your door lock. At least the original lock.

That is great - the battery setup was horribleon our 38gk in that the jostling going down the road dislodged the batteries and the lock failed.

That's the 12 volt power to your door lock remote. The actual controller is in the bottom of the door accessed by removing the bottom trim. It's the Southco brand of door lock.

I love the remotes on my 2012. I hear all the problems of the more modern door locks but I have never had a problem with mine!

I have had the Southco lock with remote key fob and regular key for over 5 years. I have not had any issues with the lock system. And, yes, your key will still unlock the door.

You might be able to contact Southco directly and see if you could get a replacement remote key fob.

Hope this helps.

We have the same lock system on our FL. Works great, only have to change the remote batteries once a year. Call Soulthco and they are very helpful and will need your code for the locks. They will tell you how to get it.

Bud............that is interesting that you have had to replace the batteries so often. We have had our coach for over 5 years and I have never replaced the battery in either of the two key fobs. I have never even tried to open the fob to see how that is done. Maybe I should be preemptive and see if I can open my fob to see what the battery is used.

I am sure glad we have the Southco door locks as we haven't had the first problem yet.

Guy

Hi Guy They are 2032's and easy to change. I am on a battery warranty with Radio Shack and get new ones when I take the old ones back. Hate to get locked out. Never a problem with the locks. Knock on wood!
