Wondering out loud

Have seen motorhomes with these and did some research a while back, but never pulled the trigger...

http://www.airtab.com/

Thinking with LOT's of towing they might be beneficial for some...

interesting topic to me since I studied boundary layer theorem as part of my Chem Engr major

They might work but it depends on the investment and how long it would take to recoup. The problem I see on my rig, is that there's a lot of space between the cab of my truck and the front of my 5er for air to collect

Using the chart in there web site and there figures, If you're getting 10 mpg now and saved their 4% saving, in 75000 mi. you would save 300 gal of fuel which at todays prices would be $1000-$1200. I don't know what they cost, but it looks to me the payback would be to long. I think they are made for the long distance hauler whatever he is driving.

If there was any credibility to them, I would think they would be a lot more common, as they have been out for over a decade. I think I have seen 2 rigs with them, and one was a 5th.
