38 GK is at Paint serial # R004920

I got word this morning from Dan Tauer that our 38gk went to paint on the 20th. It will more than likely be caught in the 2 week shut down. We are still looking at Aug 1 delivery to the dealer. This is worse than waiting for Christmas when you about 8-9 yrs old.

HaHa...that's why we bought off the lot. Unfortunately, I'm a very, very impatient guy. Would have never been able to wait like you and others.

Haha Jay and Rhonda... I SOOO know how you feel! Hang in there! It's WORTH IT. Make your packing list, get your PDI ready. Actually, the long anticipation was constructive, because we were extremely prepared and it went very smoothly.

Atom, They shut the plant down for 2 weeks during 4th of July. I understand everyone and everything including paint.

If the trailer got done.....I'd be offering to go pick it up myself. A little road trip could be fun!

Didn't know that. I knew they shut down in the winter for 2 weeks for Christmas

I've heard it talked about on the forum and the dealer and factory sales rep have confirmed. I guess I tuned into it because it affects me a little.

makes sense. It seems about twice a year they come out with a bunch of changes. Must take some of that time to retool a bit.

Atom, I'm not sure when they retool. I would think retooling is mainly just before the dealer show in the fall and the January RV show in Tampa. I don't know why the model year change is in March when most of the changes are done by January. I'm confused.

Ya me too. It makes it hard to track the model year changes if not impossible. You really have to just know what to look for when shopping. But they all do it, Keystone changed axles, tires, and TVs on our unit over Christmas break in 2007.

I had one of the first flat screens and 7K axles which weren't even an option when we ordered it.

Its like buying the latest television or computer; at some point you have to take what works for you and not look back. I know they will make some changes by Nov dealer show that I sure would have liked to have but can live without.

I can say this, the manufacturers, including Redwood, are not blind to some of the issues users have, even though they may deny it if you ask them if it is a common problem, because almost all of the problems I have had are fixed on the later 2014:

Different hinges on outside cabinets and stronger lift arms
Different bath fixtures
G tires standard

Ironically, if they replace a part under warranty, I probably won't get the new one unless I specifically ask for it. I'll get the same that came with my coach by serial number.

Does serial # R004920 mean it is the 4920th RW?

There is a number to subtract, I think it is 1400. Dave or Andy will know.

Brad - you're right on, as I recall reading the first RW was #1,400

The first 1,399 were proto-types?

No one wants the 1st. If you bought the #1 you know you would be in for trouble. If you had a exotic car #1 would be a good thing.
