38rd
Anyone know why they put 4 smaller slides vs. 2 larger slides on this model.
Saw my first one today at Austin RV Show. It really didn't strike me like some of the other models.

From what I have heard, from an engineering standpoint it is a no no to have large slides. Large slides have a lot of problems with trying to support that much wait hanging out that far. That said, think about how poorly the slide is supported and how much less material is going to be needed to support the slide. If the slide is hydraulic they can use a ram half the size. If the slide does not support any thing of any real weight i.e. The refrigerator ect. Then the materials can be even lighter weight. The biggest killer of slides is weight. I have a 36RL and the kitchen slide is considerably shallower then the dining/recliner slide.

I just found the floor plan. I does look like they were able to get more Sq. Ft. Because all slides have little to nothing hanging out there. All slides move very light weight items, bed, dresser, living room recliners dinette. The kitchen slide goes half the distance out due to the weight of the refrigerator and stove pot and pans, can goods ect. I hope this brings things to light.

When we were looking to buy last year , we first saw the Cedar Creek 38RD and thought the same exact thing... why ?? I questioned the sales guy , he said he had no idea ...It would be great to have 1 slide on the curb slide , and have an awning hanging off it outside.. We sit outside a lot , with that configuration , there is not as much as with the RL and extra awning...

If you like your unit sectioned it's fine, it makes a divider between the Living and Kitchen area, BUT you lose the openness of a normal RL floor plan. Back a few years ago we looked at, I think a Big Horn, that actually had sliding doors closing off the living room area from the kitchen. Again looked neat, but really closed in the living area making it look very small. Give me the old standby RL floor plan!

We looked at that the RD at a RV show and did not like it all. We liked the open feel of the RL so much better.

Lifestyle had a full front to back slide on 4 models. They bragged that they could do that because of the Titan box frame. I see now that they went to the Lippert I-beam in 2016, the full slide is no longer offered. The full slide units are "Dealer Stock Only".

I do like the RD floor plan, but the main reason I would not trade my 36RL in for one is the lack of room in the kitchen table slide. I am not the smallest (or largest) person in the world, but the lack of space between my body/legs and the kitchen table edge is a deal breaker for me. The lack of room to slide the chair back far enough to sit comfortably sent me happily back to my RL floor plan.

I think this is the unit that now has the arch separating the kitchen and living room. If it is I asked at the Fort Myers Show if this was being done for structure support and was tōld no they wanted to give the effect of 2 rooms and need the wall section to attach it to.
As for these king size slides I have always been nervous for these 25 - 30 foot ones on the motor homes. But have never heard of one falling out..

38RD vs. 38RL
Can anyone tell me the living area measurements between a 38RD and the 38RL? Also, there seem to be a couple of differences in the 2016 38RD units...where the w/d is placed and the size of the closet door...any info?

I have a 2016 38RL but am not able to get you measurments at the moment ..
I can tell you that the rd is not for us, we like to sit outside and with the rd, you loose the second awning..
Honestly, they are probably very close in measurment as there ia only so wide you can go..its beautiful but not our cup of tea ..
I will get you those measurements for the rl hopefully by The end of next week ..
