All Ducks are almost in a row

Met Vern at the Earlybird RV show this weekend. He's glad to finally put a face to the people that have been asking for the odd requests. He tells us our 38RL is at the paint shop now. It should be at the dealers 2-3 weeks. Once there, the vinyl plank flooring, solar system and Satellite will be installed.
I fly out to pick up our M2 next Saturday. Hope the weather drastically changes by then. This year is a record year for avalanches on the Coquihalla hwy. Got rockslides on the other hwy. The truck is sitting in -43 with the windchill today. Supposed to be around -28 when I pick her up. Going to be an interesting drive back. At least it won't be boring.
We're just in the final stages of getting the subjects removed from the sale of the house. Snowed about 10 inches last night / today and collapsed the heron netting over the pond. Have to get a welder in before the new owners come . Still snowing now and we have a heavy snowfall warning for tonight.
Going to be great getting on the road!

Don & Judith,

You must be getting excited. Your coach and the spring are getting close.

Please do share what Satellite & solar system you selected and if you don't mind what they cost.

TIA,
Ken

Hi Ken
We're going to be touring Canada for a few years so we're getting an RF Mogul satellite with Shaw. 3300.00 CDN. Once we're finished the Great White North, we'll head south of the border and see what the neighbour's yard holds.
For solar, we're starting with 2 (maybe 3, need more info before we decide) 160W panels with a Magnum 2800 pure sine wave inverter/charger. This will be around 4500.00 CDN
And yes, we're getting wound up. Yukon is our first target.

Don - wrong direction, more snow and even colder up there. Heat and sunshine is down South.

Hi Andy and Judy
90 is a bit too warm for us. Definitely too warm for Merlin. He'd roast with all that hair he has. I think We'd also be forever sweeping what he shed trying to cool down!
We'll need to meet somewhere around 70 or so.

Don,

Thanks for the info on what you've selected.

I've been digging around some more and came across what I found to be a very useful site for solar info. If you are still researching check out the Education section of http://www.amsolar.com.

We hope to head north in 2016. Perhaps we'll meet in the middle somewhere.

Ken

Ken,

When you mention North, does that include Alaska. We are planning to tour Alaska in the summer of 2016.

Hi Andy & Judi,

Yes north includes Alaska....

Although it's really so far in advance but since you asked, the long story is that our goal is to leave Tennessee sometime in the fall '15, head west until we hit the coast then turn right. As weather permits push north through Canada and Alaska enjoying the summer of '16. As summer fads we will need to decide do we winterize the RW in Alaska and return in the Springs of '17 or turn around and head south.

We did something similar in Australia a few years back, started in Sydney and followed the weather north up the east coast to Cairns. Wonderful experience something we are looking forward to doing something similar here in our own country.

What can I say though, right now nothing but waiting and planning for things to get delivered.... Grrrr......

Too much information?

Ken

PS. Ok I have to say it, Alaska maybe the destination, but the journey that counts !!!!

Ken,

We are planning a similar excursion around Australia, as part of our round the world adventure. Would be interested in chatting with you, as while I have been in Australia many times it rarely included getting outside the port limits.

Planning to return to Canada in March 2016, but only stay long enough to finalise taxes, then head to Hawaii for 6 - 8 weeks. Once we return we will get the coach ready and hope to start heading North up BC to the Alaska border by the middle to end of May. Planning 3 months in Alaska, getting back to BC in early September.

Andy,

I think there maybe some overlap here. As things get closer we might want to set up some type of thread on this forum for people heading in that direction. Perhaps we can organize a caravan. Safety in #s and all that .

Don - we were out there yesterday morning and they already had 2 Redwoods out front, so ours made it 3. First time I ever seen more than 1 Redwood.

Really happy with their Service Department. Was a bit worried when Stephanie left, but we now deal with a young lady - Stevie Andrews. She has been excellent. With the exception of waiting for awning lights from Redwood they got all our work completed in about a week.

Our house goes on the market on Monday and hopefully it will be gone before we return in July.

Enjoy your coach on the first trip.

Andy..was one of them a black and silver 38RL? Good luck on your house sale. Ours went a little too fast. Now we gotta hustle. Got a month to get out and the service dept to do what they've got to do. Hope they won't have to order parts.
We're going to hang here till I leave work in a month or two then off to the Yukon. Be gone till late fall.
Do you remember where you got your vinyl lettering?

Don - negative on that, both were Black & Maroon.

Judi got the lettering at Michaels.

Talk to Jason, who is the Service Manager. I called him and he assigned me his Admin Assistant as a service advisor. She is excellent and knows Redwoods fairly well.

Andy- We were in the back yard last weekend and they had 3 sitting there. If yours and the other 2 are near the shop, plus our's, = a lot of happy campers! talked to Jason yesterday. Seeing him at 1 this afternoon.

Don - sounds like everything coming together nicely. I was very impressed with Jason when I called him. Suggest you request Stevie as your service advisor. Very pleasant young lady and she is getting to know the Redwoods.

Got regular updates from her on the progress.

When in the store we always deal with Linda, who is always very helpful.
