My initial quote from Allstate was for full MSRP, which is absurd. I put it at a realistic value, knowing no matter what, you are only going to get replacement value at market.
You're right Johnny, there are many variables. The only one that can compare shop for you is you. What the other guy gets doesn't mean that's what you will get, but I would have to say that given you do not live in yours, that premium is at least 4 times too much. I know full timers are a little more difficult to insure.

Along Johnboytoo's reply it is hard to compare insurance since there are so many variables such as where you are registered, full time or not, trl model, how much insured for, etc. I check insurance prices every couple years and have changed several times because of pricing. I have found it easiest to go through a couple independent agents. They usually handle several different companies and can give you different quotes. I will than check out the company with the best quote with the state insurance board if I am not familiar with them to see about complaints etc. and go with what seems best.

Insurance it cost vary on were you live If I had my home base it Texas it would cost me around $1,000 and being my home base is in Oklahoma its $1300.00 a year. We are full timers and have everything on it plus replacement cost for 5 years. That with Progressive
I am looking into changing my home base address to SD after I check on Insurance for my RV and Health Insurance which I already check and is a lower premium with the same benefits. Hope this help somebody.

I'm also with GEICO and couldn't be happier with them! They beat Good Sam GM by a country mile! Save me over $ 300.

Another Geico policy holder here. They do full timing insurance as well pretty easily. We pay about $1500/year and that includes the 2013 Ford tow vehicle and our trusty 2000 Land Rover discovery. $500 deductible on all.

Found out why ours went up so much... forgot the wife hit someone with her car 2 years ago after I had singed up with good sam and so they bounced us (even thought he claim was not with them )
ended up asking my independent agent to search for us and he got us back down from the stratosphere with Foremost... same truck and coverage as you lwg...

Picking up our new 36RE Friday (woo hoo!) and will be going full-time in May. Shopping around for insurance now. We have our autos with AAA and that price came in at $686 with essentially the same coverage limits as our autos. Talked to Good Sam rep today and he sent this info ($619/yr).
Limits:
"Full-timers liability" - $100,000/$300,000
"Full-timers medical payments - $10,000/$20,000
Collision/Comprehensive $500 deductible each
"Vacation Liability" (?) - $10,000
Emergency expense $750
Personal effects $3,000 (our homeowners policy will cover this)
Does this look like the kind of coverage most of you have? What are the things that are a must-have-don't-pass-go-without-this??
Thanks! Marcia & Jordan

Update
Found out our AAA would not insure us for full-timing. Got Blue Sky for $609/yr ($500 deductible, full replacement, personal effects, etc) so we're good to go! Thanks for all the advice

Delivery date is getting closer, hopefully our new 38RL will show up mid April.
Looking in to different insurance options.
1. We have AAA Premium RV insurance and CoachNet comes with the unit.
I suppose that it good for a flat tire or to get help getting towed for a repair but nothing else. I understand that AAA is not ONE but 50 different legal entities and that the service you are offered and pay for in your home state might not work as good everywhere. Not sure about CoachNet.
2. A vehicle/trailer insurance is good for the physical unit if we are colliding or have any other accidents or unplanned events. Not sure here but we have Cincinnati for the truck so I suppose it is smartest to go with the same company for the trailer. Not sure if Cincinnati offers any RV-insurances but awaiting an answer from my agent.
3. A HomeOwners insurance - not sure if there are any such insurances for full timers. Like if somebody breaks in to the unit when we are out stealing a computer or liability if we invite a friend over who slips etc.
4. Health Insurance - I suppose again that there is no special health insurances for full timers, more that we keep what we have or change depending on the ZIP-code of our future residence?
The ideal would to find a company that at least can do the first 3 items under the same roof. Never had any accidents/claims, DUI or speeding tickets and always paid on time so I hope we are attractive for the insurers.
What is your experience out there? Any suggestions? Read some other forums but it is more about how well/bad people were treated in different situations, not really about the coverage. And I am sure there are both good and bad companies but no perfect ones!
