Listen to what you said. The unit is already in stock, sitting on there lot. Then Lazydays has to delay delivery, for three days because of obvious problems it left the factory with. Then you stayed in it for five days and apparently found many more problems, that needed repaired and it is still there, for repairs, that the factory missed and your happy with this?
Come on people. wake up. Nothing has changed at Redwood.

Lilly, you obviously have never built a house. Boy you talk about frustrations. In the building trade it's called a punch list and it can include miss-wired plugs, 3 way switches put in the wrong place, wrong counter tops, wrong specially ordered Oak hand rail (it takes 3 weeks to reorder).....the list goes on and on.
Human error is a bitch and almost guaranteed to happen and the more costly the home the longer the punch list is.
I've got friends with airplanes ....nothing like spending a million dollars on a bird to have it sit for a month making payments on something that's illegal to fly.

I have built my own house and I'm now a retired contractor. If I had done the quality of work that redwood has done, I would have had many law suits, my contractors license revokedand would have been out of business many years ago.

I have to go to the Crossroads dealer tomorrow. I have all the paper work from all the previous repairsin the unit(I need these tofax to my attorney) except, I did not receive copies of the repainting and paint repairs from when redwood picked it up and took it back to the factory. This time,it has been at crossroads for three weeks, with apointmentin advance withredwood involved. redwood even called the day I dropped it off, to check if it was there.27 items, not including paint and body issues. nothing has been done. It's just sitting there. Could you amagine, if we were full timers, like yourselveswhich are our plans.I guess we would have to stay in a homeless shelter I will compile a list and post it.

Don,
I hear what you are saying. Unfortunately the manufacutrer does not do a QC check on the coaches before they ship them out. They depend on the dealer/customer to do the QC for them. I personally do not agree with this approach. You can purchase a car that has ISO QS systems in place and the cost is $20,000. Even the vendors must be QS certified. We purcahse a $90,000+ coach and have to do our own QC inspections. Not the way I would run the railroad!!

Our dealer contacted us as soon as our rig arrived and asked us to come take a look. I was surprised at the condition in which my rig arrived at the dealer. The interior was incredibly messy with sawdust on the bed, wire stripping on the floor, etc. However, when I returned a week later to take delivery, I was impressed with the clean up and PDI performed by my dealer (B Young RV in Portland, OR). They did a great job and even had a list of needed repairs that couldn't be done before delivery (they were minor).
We've had it now for four weeks and have only come up with a few warranty issues (RV Lock, some moulding that has warped and a leaky window).
While I too believe Redwood should do a better job of QA, it appears they have made an arrangement with their dealers to handle much of this. In my case, my dealer did a terrific job.

We received our 31SL just the first of July, the coach was incorrect from the factory.
1) Wrong color furniture in the living area.
2) Wrong fridge. Ordered the 12CF. The invoice to the dealer even showed Redwood had billed them for it.
2) Wrong valances in the living area.
3) Missing both rear blinds.
4) Ordered Maxxaire fan for the bath. Was installed in the bedroom.
5) Belt line by the entry door bowed in an filled with silicon.
6) A/C's will not cool down the coach when it has been sitting in the sun all day. The stats are pegged at 99 degrees. Check the ducts coming from the rear main unit and they are half full of a bundle of wires and spray foam.
7) Furnace stand missed the floor by an inch in the pass thru. When they repaired the dealer put the access panel on 90 degrees sideways.
8) The wood cuts under the sink in the bath room are so bad the dealer said it needed to be replaced. Was told 4-6 weeks for replacement.
9) The Pita RCA blue-ray player freezes up.
10) Several wood work issues.
The coach was at the dealer for 5 1/2 weeks. We have not had a chance to use the coach since delivery yet. Picked it up from the dealer on 11/21, had family coming in town for Thanks Giving and needed more room for family to stay.
The coach was not complete with repairs yet. Not so sure I will take back to the dealer for the completion due to ill repairs already completed.

Ken,
Don't get a replacement RCA unit... they are CRAP. Our dealer replaced the RCA unit with a new LG from Redwood when we had our 38BR in for warranty work. Had several issues with woodwork throughout the coach that was falling off or warped... all fixed. Had issues with both doors... fixed. Batteries go dead in 4-5 days so installed a solar panel charger. Will check the unit each month when we fire up the genny over the winter hoping no more issues arise. Happy with service by our dealer... not so happy with quality of the trailer so far. Plan to talk to factory reps at the upcoming RV Show in Toronto... would love to hear what they have to say for themselves and whether they even read the forum and the issues owners are having.

Well, well. Lots of problemswith the Redwoods. Thought it was just me. If people would read this forum prior to buying one they probably would not buy one. Except Dave . Ever heard of a bust out. Makem, sellem (they will get worse and worse) made our money then belley up. Oh, but you can keep towing them to the factory or dealer time after time for repairs. If that's your idea of fun. No wonder Redwood has little or no QC. People keep giving excuses for their work Redwood (owners). This is not a "Residential Rig". It's ok if you don't move it but things come lose when you tow it. Right Dave? When you build a house you have a "punch list" too? I think we will be holding the bag at the end when Redwood closes it's doors like many have. When people ask me about the Redwood I point them to this forum tell them my experience. Not good PR for redwood. Dave, do most of the workers at the factory speek or read english? Just wondering.

I couldn't agree with your last sentence even more. I am a potential customer but I must admit I am loosing that 'warm feeling' I had about Redwood. I am hoping to see a stand from Redwoodon some of these issues that have been noted since I joined in April. To note are the 'popping jacks' and 'warm closet'.
Sorry folks someone posted before me, the sentence I am referring to is "would love to hear what they have to say for themselves and whether they even read the forum and the issues owners are having."Edited by: par

Popping and warm closet. Closet-as I have stated prior. There is no insulation at all in the floor of the front cap under the safe. Take one out and look. There is little or no insulation in the front cap itself. Use a mirror and look. The closet itself with doors closed reached 90 degrees in the summer when it was only in the high 80's. Brown absorbs more heat. Had to keep closet door's closed as only one AC worked ( was wired wrong at the factory. Took months to get in for repair at dealer.POPPING- no one has the answer. The Heartland forum ( which someone placed a link to on this forum) Had a post that stated that he(the poster) had talked to "bob" at Lippert and that there was a kit coming out in a week or so to fix the problem. THAT WAS POSTED IN OCT 2008. Someone talked to Bob in Nov and they are working on the problem. Now imagine if they found a fix what it would cost to retro fit all units with this system. Ain't going to happen folks. You really don't think they can't figure it out. Two different metals on the landing gear that heat and cool at different temps. Full timers will notice these things as they live in them every day.

If you visit ANY RV Forum just about all you hear is all the complaints,so based on what you would read there you would never by ANY RV regardless of Mfr, Brand, or Type. As forRedwood, remember back during the summer they reach 1000 units so there must be plenty of Happy Owners out there. We've had a few minor problems, but nothing we couldn't take care of our selves. Right now we have a problem with the AC side of the Hot Water Heater, but it's not a Redwood problem, it a problem with the Suburban Hot Water heater it's self.

Don,
I can only speak for myself on this forum and the experiences that I've had. Yes my jacks have popped and I'm not thrilled with that but what are the options? Is there another jack system out there? No there isn't to my knowledge...so lets all just beat this dead horse and compare who's pissed off the most. Redwood has ALWAYS answered the phone and listened to my concerns. They have also ALWAYS fixed any problem I've had without having to prove to them that it was their fault.
I've had RV's for well over 30 years and I can tell you MY EXPERIENCE has been good enough that I'm going to buy another one. Don, I'm not bragging but I'm in the financial position that I could buy any 5er made out there yet I bought a Redwood and I'll buy another next year.
I've had Rv's made by Forrest River, it took me 1.5 years to get windows fixed and I had to prove to them it was their fault the damn things broke. Redwood has never asked me to prove anything to them...they simply apologies for my inconvenience and repair what's broken. I can't ask for much more than that.
As for the closet...yes I get heat built up in the closet....it's an inconvenience and I hope they get something figured out on it.
The facts are this; if you want a perfect dwelling...stay home. If you want a great RV, I think Redwood is very close but keep in mind, these are not houses. They shake and bounce down the road over every bump and if they build them strong enough to withstand this shaking WITHOUT adjustments, they would be too heavy to pull. Then you'd bitch about how heavy they were.
I have a relative with a brand new Tiffin Allegro Bus, for those of you that don't know what this is, it's a $400,000 diesel pusher. The cabinet doors started shaking loose....it's an RV folks. Tiffin fixed it and all was well. But these folks were reasonable enough to know that things fall apart when they shake.
We all have concerns about our trailers and yes we all want things improved upon or fixed but most of the other items like the TV's, dvd player, awnings and such are in all the other trailers as well.
For the record the following is an ACCURATE report card for my 2012 RL and all repairs. This way everybody can judge for themselves if it's reasonable. Only 4 of the following items could have been controlled by Redwood (#1, #5,#11, #12) all others were supplier issues. These same suppliers you'd have with other manufactures as well.
#1 water line kinked going to the cold water supply of the washer (QC should have caught this)
#2 bracket loose holding the fender skirt (caused by shaking down the road)
#3 jacks popping
#4 jack leaking
#5 delamination (company is fixing)
#6 DVD player replaced
#7 Locks replaced
#8 bedroom slide motor replaced (slid-in-slide motor)
#9 slide adjusted
#10 Generator fixed by Cummings
#11 fan hitting trim ( bad design)
#11 trim loose
#12 vent tube for fresh water supply ( bad design)

Thank you
I agree, we all have minor issues but so far there's only a few people out of a 1000 that seem to be having major issues. Don't get me wrong, there are problems and feel for the folks having theses issues.

I sold Jayco, Cedar Creek, Dutchmen and Winnebago for 4 years here in Texas. I told buyers (depending upon price point of purchase) that they could expect to visit the service department at least 3 to 6 times the first year and possibly more on diesel motorhomes. We full time and were in a Jayco Designer until the RW. Even with my knowledge of rvs, this forum has taught me much and I would still purchase a RW today. We, too, have had some issues with the RW, but Brian and staff at RW have been awesome to work with. Jayco is the only other brand I know of that stands behind their product even after the warranty period. For service purposes, Dutchmen and Cedar Creek were hard to deal with for approval to fix. Bottom line: IF IT IS MADE BY MAN - IT WILL BREAK.
