Unfortunately, our spots on the right coast pale in comparison to what most of you folks have experienced. We just don't have the vistas that make western camping so breathtaking.

Don't sell the west coast short! Have you been to Tofino on Vancouver Island or haw about the beautiful Oregon coast scenes? Even over built California has a few nice spots!

Or on the East coast try the Far East edge of Nova Scotia, where you are always family, or the red beaches of Prince Edward Island. I have never been to Newfoundland which is something I will correct next year. I'm sure there must be some lovely spots down the east coast of USA ( haven't been there yet, also on the menu for next year. Can hardly wait to discover all those hidden spots.

Great Fishing

We will be at South Toledo Bend State Park fishing from 5/19/2013 - 5/26/2013, the water temperature should be perfect to tear up some Crappie.

We live in Flag and go to the canyon a lot. We recently discovered the Ten X campground outside of Tusayan. Almost all sites are big and beautiful. Sites in the park are tight and the full hook up ones are less than beautiful IMHO. I guess it depends on what you need and are looking for.

Just left Wallowa Lake area. We stayed at the Park at The River at the south end of the lake. It was fabulous. The state park there is really pretty too.

Just arrived at Lake Woahink RV Park about 5 mls South of Florence, Oregon. Adjacent to the dunes and across the road from the lake. Not a bad park, lots of hedges for privacy.

The Labrador is happy - lake on one side and ocean on the other.

Next stop Cannon Beach.

We are now at Cannon Beach RV Park on the North Oregon Coast. Nice park with lots of shade, but the site we have is rather short. We are in a reverse in site and initially stopped with the rear of the coach at the back of the pad, but the front cap was still on the road.

Here for 1 week and then we head North and back home.

The Oregon Coast has been a brilliant maiden voyage in our new home.

We are in Netarts Bay Garden RV Resort on the ocean just west of Tillamook. We are on the bay, looking out at the sea lions on a sandbar about 1/4 mile out. We can go clamming of crabbing from here. It is an incredible view!!

By far, Clinton State Park, near Lawrence, KS is our favorite. Specifically, camp ground #3, sites B150 - 156, which are along the lake are just beautiful.

I could go into more detail however Google Earth and the state park web site will keep this story short. Plenty of overhead clearance to trees for our Redwood 36RL. Really all the lake side sites are great.

Whatever you do, DO NOT stay at Front Royal, VA (formally a KOA) RV park. The road to it is a one lane road, a sharp turn with fence posts on each side, and once you check in, the narrow gravel road has too many trees and turns with no way to back up. Had to ask one guests to kindly move their car to make the turn without hitting it or another fence post. We high tailed it out of there as quickly as we could. Needless to say all the barking dogs.

Our favorite park is Lost Maples State Natural Area near Vanderpool in the Texas Hill Country. Intimate RV campground, great hiking and in the fall, the Maple trees turn beautiful colors not seen anywhere else in Texas.

Check it out: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/state-parks/lost-maples

What is that like in the early spring? We could go there for after our 1 year checkup in Texas.

The weather in the Hill Country gets hot and steamy in the summer. There are several spots that have trees to help you stay cool. You'll need both AC's to be comfortable. The sites only have power and water so you'll need to make arrangements to offload your tanks if you stay more than three or four days. There are showers and restrooms available as well. San Antonio is about 90 miles from the park for your inspection.

Thanks Grandpa. We would actually be coming from Canton for our inspection. We might make a vacation out of it, but I believe the date is around April 1.

I'm sure we could take it here for inspection, but we liked Texas and would like to see some more.

I like Texas too! I was born in California and moved when I was six months old. Couldn't wait to get here!
