Fireplace omitted or deleted?

My wife and I are considering options for a custom or
factory ordered 31SL. There are some
options we really want and they don’t seem to be on any or most of the dealer
inventories.

One of the options we are considering to DELETE or OMIT is
the fireplace option. Every unit we have
seen in person or online seems to have the fireplace. While I guess this is an indicator of the
popularity, we are pondering how much we would use it and believe this space
might be of more use as storage.
However, we aren’t sure what would come in place of the fireplace. Is it a cabinet, drawer unit or open? I realize that this may differ depending on
the model.

In short, has anyone NOT gotten the fireplace option and
what fills the space?

We aren’t sure that we would use the fireplace. While it does serve as a heat source, we are
looking at the heat pump option on the dual A/C units.

We opted to NOT have the fireplace in our 36RE. We had one in our Montana below the TV and the amount of heat that radiated UP was a concern. Didn't like using it (not that effective) IMHO. It was replaced with a two door cabinet (no shelves). BTW, we also omitted the oven and it was replaced with three wonderful drawers!!

I ordered the Heat pump option and "assumed" it meant both units were heat pumps. However only the main living area AC is a heat pump and the the bedroom AC is purely AC.
I have not checked this out with the dealer or Redwood to see if this is standard setup but it would have been nice to have been offered the option of either 1 or 2 heat pumps.

I ordered the heat pump for my A/C also. The option is only for the Main unit. When I called Andy, he said that you could also opt for the heat pump on the Bedroom A/C, but he thought you got most of the utility from the first one and little incremental value from paying twice as much. Like you, I only ordered it on the main unit.

But these custom "off-price list"options, like the additional RG6 satellite cables, the ottomans and the heat pump should be published somewhere on their selection list. I hate finding out about cool things after it's too late!

We know. I ordered two heat pumps and was told after delivery that they do not configure a two heat pump set up. Would have been nice to know before signing on the dotted line. I feel like Yoda in Star Wars is saying something like "You are learning young Luke." I hate that!

We have the fireplace and used it to take the chill off on our first land cruise. We got 2 ACs but did not get the heat pump. So far have lots of storage and like the fireplace.

We too opted for the fire place and love it until it quit they are sending a replacement.

Anyone know how to remove the old one? all I an see is two screws at the bottom on the front

I ordered mine with the fireplace and am happy with the heat it produces. I mostly bought it for the atmosphere it creates having it on in the evening. Being a fulltimer, I have my coach pretty well loaded up and I just noted that I still have 2 empty drawers and 2 completely cabinets along with 2 half empty cabinets. There is more storage in this coach than I originally thought. I am glad i went with the fireplace.

Dan,

I was able to remove mine by removing two screws an the bottom and two screws at the top. Then it slides straight out towards you.

I have mine out right now to check out the subwoofer which is mounted behind the fireplace. I plan to glue some backer blocks onto the areas where the screws were put infor reinforecement because the screwswere just barely catching the edge of the wood.

Took mine out with no problem, I did have extra long screws that where were very sold into the wood frame
