The Standard Redwood wheel is the Tredit (Tredit tire and Wheel) T03 rated for 3,580 lbs.

We ordered the G tire option and it came with the Tredit T09 wheel rated for 3,750 lbs. Not quite as pretty a wheel as the standard, but evidently required for the G tire option.

Something to think about if you are debating the option for a new order - weigh in the cost of replacing wheels if you decide to try and switch later.

I had a blow out on a Good Year G114 in Gadsden, Alabama, when I left Demopolis I had 117 pounds in all tires, I checked the other 3 tires after the blow out and they were 130 PSI. In the southern US heat what should I start at cold? Help?

My 2018 Redwood came with Westlake "H" rated 17.5 tires on 8k axels. According to Redwood brochure, this is what all new Redwood's have.

What pressure are you running in them?

When they recommend "cold" pressure that just means before moving any distsnce, basically first thing in the morning before leaving. My GY G114 recommended 110 psi cold & that's what I ran in them due to weight & from my TPMS seeing a rise in temp of 25 degrees was/is about normal.
I have replaced y GY G114s with Sailun 17.5" Hs & run them at 120 psi, now have 2000+/- miles on them, so far so good.
Hope you saved the carcass& contacted GY, they will pay for damages & replace the tire.

Dumb question I guess. I have a 2013 Redwood that came with marathon tires. I replaced them with Hercules which have the same tread design. I am wanting to move to G rated tires. Maybe Sailun 637 235/80/16. Do I have to change rims with these tires or will the standard rims work. I believe the tire pressure jumps to 100 psi. FYI, I have not had any problems with the tires I have on presently. I monitor the pressure regularly and keep them around 78 psi.

Crawl under the RW and look at the backside of the wheel spokes. Should be info there as to PSI and/or load rating. I think the OEM wheels will handle the 110 PSI of "G" rated tires, but I'm not positive. I ordered our '12 with the GY G614 "G" tires and our '16 with the GY G114 17.5" "H" tires.

G-tires and Wheels

I didn't mean to hijack this thread but for some reason I couldn't figure out how to start a new discussion. I guess I've been away to long.

Thank you for your advice. I will look under and check the rims. I'm thinking these rims will handle the tires I'm looking at.

Wishing you all a safe and Happy Thanksgiving

your on the right track, the wheels are not all rated at 120 psi so they must be checked , the sailun tires need 110to carry more then LR G tires . I like many other have gone to LR H 17.5 sailun tires.

If I wanted to replace the Westlake tires that came with our Redwood; 215/75r?17.5 with Goodyear or Sailun would I need to replace the wheel as well? I think the OEM wheel is 6" and from what I've read the Goodyears need 6.5".

I would say NO, can't see what difference a 1/2" would make.
I think you'll find the Sailuns to be MUCH cheaper than the GYs & in my opinion just as good a tire.

If I understand you correctly your redwood currently has 235/80 or 85R16 load range G tires correct?

You cant mount a 17.5" tire on a 16" wheel, that would be very hazardous to your health!

Many of us have gone to aftermarket 17.5" wheel and tire combo because they can hold 4950 lbs or more depending on the size and load rateing of the tires you decide to use. Some tire and wheels combos are not suited to be used togeather . For example many load range E 16" wheels are only rated at 80 psi max but you can safely mount a load range G tire on it but you could NOT inflate it to the maximum side wall recommended 110 psi because the wheel wasn't rated for that high of air pressure. so you need to know the weight and PSI rating on your current wheels if your just doing a tire upgrade. for a compleat wheel a tire combo you have some options that don't drain your bank account. Sailun tires are reasonable priced and seam to have a good reputation for not exploding . I am running the S637 Sailun on Alcoa wheels

EDIT: just notice you have a 2018 , those came stock with 17.5" wheels ! as long as you don't go to a wider tire profile your fine with any brand tire.

To be honest, I think my 2014 Redwood 36RL with the Goodyear G614 option came from the factory with G614s on 6" wheels. (back then you could order G614s and you got 5 of them )

A note on pressure - I got in a case with the NHTSA against a wheel manufacturer where they were relabeling maximum pressure on a wheel without testing the wheel to accommodate a manufacturer. As it turns out, there really is no pressure test performed on alloy wheels, or load test. Load ratings are based on a specification of the alloy and also dictate stud size, number and pattern size. I always thought these wheels were rigorously tested, but they actually aren't tested at all. There were probably some baseline tests years ago and now they just computer model after those. Alcoa may be the exception as a US company. The NHTSA explained to me that the pressure on the wheel has more to do with the tire they are designed to accept and the stem, and nothing to do with the strength of the wheel. The alloy itself could hold far more pressure than that.

If you check out tredittire.com, they no longer provide a pressure on their wheel ratings, only load.

I went with Alcoa wheels , they are not coated aluminum and would require frequent cleaning .I purchased me wheels from Rickson wheels in Maryland , it took WAY to long to get them . Rickson takes Alcoa truck wheels and machines out the centers to accept trailer style center caps and 9/16 cone style lug nuts but Alcoa is made in the USA and you will never have a cracked wheel or air leaks from a pinhole . Hi-Spec seams to be a reasonable choice for 17.5" wheels they are available in a few different patterns and fairly cheap but they are made in China .

Just check for online reviews before you buy not every place has the best reviews.

Sailun 637 or Goodyear 114 tires have great reviews , Mine has Sailun because in 5 years regardless to miles will be swap out.

Got the 17.5" Sailuns & wheels from Performance Trailer Braking, no issues, would replace with the same & would recommend them. I chose them due to the price, I honestly don't believe the GYs could be twice as good to be twice the price.
