Just about to pull the trigger
I have been negotiating on a 2015 Redwood 38GK for a while and I believe I have pushed the dealer as far as I can. This will be my first 5th wheel. I have had three motorhomes, so I am not unfamiliar with RV’s, but new to 5th wheels.
I would love to hear any comments about the Redwood 38GK, or just the Redwood in general. I have been reading several forums about 5th wheels, and about the Redwood. I have read some concerning comments about the frames some of these 5th wheels are built on, but I would imagine all brands have some kind of problems.
Thanks,
Dan

The price sounds spot on.
I have a 39 mb, but had a hard time choosing a floorplan
Quality is as good if not better than anything I have owned. Yea I have had a few "loose screw" issues, but all have been self repaired.
Overall very satisfied and would purchase again
GOOD LUCK with your decision

I'm assuming you didn't actually publish price per the forum rules, but if you did, that is a good price consistent to what we experienced.

oops
Sorry, if I wasn't supposed to post prices. I guess I should have read all the rules. Thanks for letting me know, and thanks for your post.

38gk
We bought our 2014 38GK last December. We have full timed in it since April and have put about 10000 miles on the unit. No major problems, just the normal things you might expect (loose screws, minor drips, etc. ). We are due for our annual inspection in December and have a warranty punch list for the dealer. Really enjoy the floor plan. The 2014 1/2 and 2015 have some nice additions such as the buffet and the rear storage area. Hope you enjoy your RW.

With the exception of Continental Coach/Forks RV, all RV manufacturers experience issues with their products, whether QA/QC issues during assembly or issues resulting from driving on our roads.
This is our first RV so have nothing to compare RW with, but in our experience RW customer service and warranty is exceptional. We have experienced a number of issues - brakes, trim, leveling system, water hoses, bulkhead structure and RW have addressed everything in a timely manner.
While you may hear dissenting opinions on warranty, the variable in the equation is dealers. Our dealer is excellent, taking detailed photos of each issue and documenting them thoroughly, which makes the approval process easier.
Therefore, I would research dealers as thoroughly as RV brands and floorplans. Yes, we would recommend purchasing a RW.

To me, the one thing holding Redwood back from becoming a top of the line manufacturer is its Dealer network. There really aren't that many of them around and many of the dealers they do have are terrible when it comes to repairs and warranty work! Redwood does however, stand behind its product and in more occasions than not, have stepped up to the plate to make it right. I have considered trading for another brand just to have a local dealership to deal with. I have accepted the fact that I chose Redwood even though the nearest dealer was 150 miles away. I chose it after lengthy research, but if Redwood wants to grow, it is essential that they expand their dealerships with quality an reputable dealers. With a required 2 year inspection coming up in the next 5 months, I currently do not have a dealer to take it to. I have tried a Redwood Dealer and a Crossroads Dealer within 150 miles of me and I will not go back to either one due to poor workmanship. I'm open for suggestions if anyone can recommend a quality dealer. I am in the Northwest part of Louisiana.

In my experience the dealer failings are not the only thing holding RW back so I must be the damper and rain cloud on this sunny picture
As far as inspections -
Isn't there a Lafayette, La dealer and one in Canton, Tx?
I would not recommend ExploreUSA, but maybe they can surely do an inspection within their 2 to 3 month repair windows

Yes, Canton is where I purchased and I will not go back there. There is one in Lafayette but I haven't heard anything good about them either. If someone has had positive experiences with the Lafayette dealer I would like to know about it.

We would certainly buy a Redwood again. Yes, as others have said, "loose screw" issues for sure... but not deal breakers. We just keep our handy "punchlist" going and plan to "vacation" for a couple of days at the dealership/service center every 2-3 months for a while till all is right. Our list is very short now and our experience has been EXCELLENT. I have never heard of ANY RV that doesn't have "growing pains", but the company has been stellar and appear to be making the necessary changes to STAY in business for the long term. Good luck!!

You know for most they will definitely buy another RW. For others maybe not. Not every trailer is built exactly the same from RW. Not every trailer has had the same quality control checks performed at the factory as others as well as at the dealership if bought there instead of getting the opportunity to build one to suit there own needs. Will we buy another? I would say yes but not for the other half of mine. We still are in limbo on ours and actually the owner of explore USA is working with us to get our replaced after he examined what came back to his dealership from the factory. So what ever you decide please take everyones decision into considering but look at the newer trailers to the older units because you can tell how quality has changed from the beginning. Good luck and remember one thing as we messed up on our decision. Getting it at a great price is one thing but cheaper is not better if the unit next to holds its original price and it's identical to the one your buying. Make sure you get what your paying for. Not missing TV or mismatched brands and so on.

Primeaux RV is a Redwood dealer in Lafayette. I had a chance to talk to the owner at last years New Orleans RV Show. I was impressed with what he had to say but, talk is cheap.

We have had our Redwood for two years now and pulled it approx. 20k miles. Have had no real problems other than some loose trim, etc. We would definitely purchase another Redwood
