New 2017's

So, I've read the articles bragging about the new and improved 2017 Redwood Luxury 5th wheels. Does anyone know when these are going to hit the market? I'm anxious to see the new RW340RL. It seems strange that we have not seen any or heard from anyone on this forum about when manufacturing will begin and when orders will be taken.

We attended the California RV show in Pomona this last weekend. Not a single Redwood represented here. We did, though, have a nice visit with Ron/Titan Guy at his booth.

Were there other upper end 5th wheels there?

And still no reply from the Redwood rep who is supposed to be monitoring this Forum.

I hate to be a pessimist but, as I've said before, It's almost like Redwood is playing a game with the public before they announce their discontinuance. Need to get rid of inventory before making that kind of announcement. Just how long can they stay viable with all their competition producing new models and filling up the lots? Can't help to think this way when not one person from Redwood gives input for us to think otherwise. Regardless, I've already purchased mine, so it won't affect me if they do close. I plan on keeping it for a very long time so resale value won't affect me. Once you get all the weaknesses corrected, it's hard to give it up and start over again.

Can't find a new 2017 (new models) anywhere in the U.S. Kind of hard to take orders or sell if there aren't any. Just sayin. If I was trying to get the jump on all my competitors and get the new product going, I would want to beat them to the market.

I was at a campground not long ago and a Landmark pulled in. I really thought it was a Redwood until I saw the name on the side. VERY Classy looking! I sure hope Redwood gets off the porch and start running in the race soon. From what people have posted on this forum, it sounds like they've come a long way in regards to the company stepping up to the plate.

Maybe Redwood has become so popular that they can't keep them on the lots.

We toured the Redwood manufacturing plant on Sept 27th of this year. The tour guide mentioned that Redwood was going to be making several changes in the 2017 1/2 models, but honestly, since this was the first time we've looked at Redwood, I only recall a few. I believe the new 17 1/2's are going to start at a lower their price point. They've also have a new linoleum floor which looks like wood plank flooring, increasing the axle to 8000# plus 17.5 H rated tires, plus some other high tech inclusions, such as possibly a wired backup camera, and a tech feature which you can monitor things from your smartphone. According to the Redwood reps, Redwood has had record sales and is now also being managed by Keystone. The following day we took a tour at another high end RV plant in Bristol, mulled things over and then went to the Tiara RV dealership, in Elkhart, to look at Redwood's again. The very following day, last day of Sept., we made a decision to purchase a new 2017 Redwood, not the 17 1/2. The one we liked, was actually still on the Redwood inventory holding lot. The dealership is now prepping it for us as we made a few changes, like adding (5) 17.5 G114's and wireless backup camera and different hi output range. We will be picking it up mid-Nov. This 2017 still has the extra storage in the rear, shelves in the storage basement, both which as we understand Redwood has eliminated for the 17 1/2 models. Full body paint will also be considered an option, probably helping Redwood lower their price point.

Why would they be eliminating something so very important to full timers? And I thought full body paint had always been an option, at least it was for our 2013 model.

Tom ,

when I ordered my "16" , full body paint was a mandatory option with 4 choices of colors.. I understand that they went back to old school , offering decals on fiberglass , with paint as an upgrade..

I like the idea , not everyone wants , or can spend the $$$ on paint, this should give them a larger audience..

If full body paint has been mandatory for the past few years, I agree. I seem to recall that the paint was something like an $11K option back in '13. That's not an insignificant amount of clams. Right or wrong, we convinced ourselves that paint would help resale.

They've also eliminated the Sequoia line altogether, according to Crossroads, it was just not profitable. RW also changed to a much larger curved TV in the living area; more BLING I guess. We only got to see one new RW model at the plant and I recall some of the those on the tour grousing about a few of the new changes, but overall everyone seemed impressed. Since we had never really thought of buying RW before, we were trying to absorb as much as we could.

When I was looking, resale , AND every day UPKEEP were my thoughts...

I was tired of trying to keep up with the old color infused Gelcoat, I was convinced that IF I was to get a new trailer , it would be one with a painted front and rear cap.. The balance of the paint is a BONUS for me !

believe 2014 was when the full body paint became mandatory. I love the idea of going back to paint as an option. I've read the posts about having to pay a lot to have a small item painted to match. I do think the front and rear caps will be painted since Redwood had to pay to have many of the original ones painted under warranty due to fading. Don't get me wrong, I love the looks of the full body painted units, but the added cost is just not a priority for me. I would hate for Redwood to eliminate that option though.

Because they are not asking full timers for their opinions on what we like and dislike or want and need.

They had 90 some RW's at the rally, would have been a great time to ask some questions. But I guess that would have revealed their assumptions were not always correct.
