Bergeman.....glad to hear you like your GK. The only truck we've looked at so far was the Denali. LOVED it! It rode SO much better than the pick-up truck we have now....3/4 ton GMC heavy duty Sierra. And from what I hear they even drive better when the 5th wheel is hooked to them. Here's hoping. I used to feel like I was on an amusement park ride pulling our TT.

White looks good with the new color scheme, as I think they went to the true white base. Mine is a little more creme base with the old paint scheme so my truck doesn't really match anything except for the champagne colored bottom.

atom ant.....I hear ya! My husband took early retirement because of a buy-out. He couldn't WAIT to get out of there.....the last 10 years he was so disillusioned about what was happening at GM. Still, I hate to bad-mouth them too much. After all, we ARE in a position to buy a fancy RW, so we're grateful for that!

I'm sure AtomAnt will chime in here and tell you that there is a special place in hell for anyone that buys a GMC.
I thought I was the only one that buried their Redwood up to the axles in mud

Our Mighty GMC pulled it out, I was impressed

Maybe that is why our Pin Box failed, I pulled it apart !!!!

travelin' texans......I have no idea what you mean by 'B&W turnover ball with companion fifth wheel hitch'. (Neither does my husband). I guess we have a lot to learn! :-)

RWJSIM2003....good for you that you have the talent to do your own work on your truck. Years ago my husband did all the basic car maintenance stuff himself, but no longer. :-(

Shane Wood......actually, I'd like to do that. I've heard such good things about the Fords and Dodges. I'd just like to compare the ride and fit/finish. But you're probably right.....we'll most likely end up with a GM.

atom ant......I do see a lot of pictures of rigs with white trucks. But the pictures are so small that I can't really tell what color the RV is. Thanks for the advice. I prefer lighter colored vehicles....I just think they're safer and easier to see at night and in rainy conditions.

rob fla.....OUCH!!! The very first pop-up we had only for a few weeks. My husband backed into a stump and left a dent in the rear end of the trailer. He was SO mad. It didn't interfere with the operation, so we just left it. Then we had a TT for 10 years and didn't have ANY mishaps. Hope that good luck is still with us because it will take some getting used to (especially for me) to pull a larger rig.

The paint on my 2012 Redwood were Chrysler colors. So if you want to match the colors exactly look at the Ram trucks.

My Entegra has GM paint colors on it.

Actually did it twice. I think it was the axles that stopped it from sinking further.

For how much tension that had to be put on all the parts involved I am wondering if some damaged might have occurred. I read what happened to you. That gives me more to think about.

The B&W is the brand of hitch, made in USA, top quality, easy hitch/unhitch, leaves truck bed clear when removed, & can be be removed easily by myself. It has a 4" hole the truck bed to use a gooseneck if needed & the "Companion" is the 5th wheel piece that attachs in the gooseneck portion. Mine was bought/installed by GM dealer when I purchased the truck.

I've had a few people tell me our truck color matches the Redwood. The color is called bronze fire, but that means you would have to buy a Ford!!

I guess if you had enough boards you could have used the leveling jacks to lift the tires up out of the mud

oh, ouch. That is such a fragile suspension anyway.

I bet them tires were a bit out of balance till they flung some mud!

In all my years of RVing I have never done anything like that, it was a long day, I was tired and it had been raining in Texas for days before we arrived, the ground was real soft. (The Campground was not real happy that I dug and new ditch beside their site)
I was not a Happy Camper that day, but it does not appear I did any permanent damage.
We have pulled for many thousands of miles since that incident and have had no excessive tire wear or other issues.
