Follow the chart below to decode the VIN number.

1st digit--Country of origin
2nd digit--Manufacturer
3rd digit--Make
4th digit--Line
5th & 6th digits--Body style
7th digit--Restraint system
8th digit--Engine
9th digit--Check digit
10th digit--Year
RVS manufactured after 2000 show numerical designations. For example, 2001=1, 2002=2, etc. Those manufactured before 2001 show alpha designations; for example X=1999, and Y=2000. After 2009 the tenth character will revert back to alpha: 2010=A
11th digit--Assembly plant
12th to 17th digits--Sequence number

I don't think it is in the vin, but on the same line as the vin is the model/year. Ours says RW36RL14 on the vin sticker indicating a Redwood model 36RL 2014.

On Edit - I didn't realize it was in the VIN, but according to Andy, ours would correctly indicate 2014 with an "E" as the 10th digit. Thanks Andy - quite a formula to follow.

Brad - just checked ours and we have a "D", which correctly indicates a 2013. The unit number is 2986, which I believe means we were # 1586 off the line. Our coach was built Nov 2012.

Makes sense - ours was manufactured 3/14/2013 and the vin ends in 3377.

The only one I couldn't line up is the body style 5th and 6th. That would make mine a C3, but the 6th and 7th would make it a 36.

Our pin box is painted with a big 3377 on it, and its starting to stick as the name. The other day my daughter asked if we were bringing the "ol' 3377" to Texas with us. I chuckled because I catch myself calling it that too.

Thanks Andy, according to your info, ours is a 2013. 10th digit is D. I think the tech was seeing the 9th which is a 4. Build #3146.

Based on that I would estimate you coach was built Jan 2013.

Yep. The sticker says Jan. 9th.

Received a definite answer from redwood today! no changes in warranties 2/5 is still the official policy. Andy apparently does not work for Redwood anymore, therefore the delay in answer from them.
