How about keeping the velcro strap inside the fridge when you aren't traveling. That way you'll always know where it is and it will be in the exact right spot when you need it .

Would that not keep the doors closed? I know the velcro strap around the handles works too... I know I will lose that thing by the second trip and will have them tied shut with my shoelace or something. I am going to use the black child-proof latch for the freezer, I think, but certainly something more unobtrusive could be conjured up for that too...? Obviously, I like to figure out "better ways of doing things". It drives my husband CRAZY. ;-) But he was crazy before I came along, because he MARRIED ME.

I really think that Redwood needs to address this issue. They sell them to us then don't offer a solution? I'll keep you posted, this is a nit pick thing and I have other bigger issues but it's still redwoods problem not mine IMHO.

I agree. If they dont I would be surprised. The only solution I have seen is the velcro strap around the door handles and the child lock on the freezer. I'm just saying that I think I can do better. and certainly, they need to address the issue of the refrigerator not being secured in its location!

Well, if they don't think it's important to anchor the WHOLE refrigerator so it doesn't tilt... they certainly won't worry about the doors opening
Someone came up with neat idea -
a cushioned piece of plywood in the shape of an upside down U that slipped between the fridge handles and dropped down behind the freezer handle.... used just for traveling !

Residential fridges have been in MH for a few years. It might be worth checking one of those forums and asking how they are rigged, or even take a look at some on the lots.

My rig came in February. We weren't taking delivery until April. They needed my trade and to be paid while it sat there until April 4th for us to pick up. We did the PDI and there were a few cosmetic BS problems (the chairs were the wrong color) etc etc. We traded in our TT signed and paid for the rig in full and sat around nail biting for 6 weeks for the day to come and everything they promised to be done.
I couldn't have asked for a better turn over. When we went to pick up the rig they did another condensed version of the PDI. Everything was done and corrected my chairs were there. They made everything right and then some. Though I was skeptical and it all worked out I don't know if I would do it the same way again.
We're in our rig almost a month and love it. Thursday we tow it 250 miles to a new place for another month. I can't wait love the adventure.

KSaltman Make sure you do your PDI FIRST at LazyDays. They pulled that on us when we picked our's up for delivery. Ordered it and and made arrangements to drive down and pick it up on our vacation. Long story short when we arrived to do PDI and take delivery they told us that the coach was still in prep getting washed and we could go and get the paperwork taken care of first to get that out of the way that it would only be about a hour. So we did. But what was really the problem was it was still being worked on for electrical problem. 3 hours later the pulled it out to the PDI lot (by mistake) for us to go through. It was like they pulled it out of the mechanics hands as he was working on it. It was a disaster. Needless to say when the manager came out to get our coach to continue working on it and we where there in disbelief looking at it he couldn’t apologies enough for the mistakes. They got everything working and all issues fixed or repaired with perfection. But we did leave 4 days later then expected and were very happy with our new coach.
If I was to do it again I would not sign paper before I did my PDI not matter what. I think you have more control of the deal then after you sign papers. Make sure you pull the belts tight because it can be a roller coster ride till your towing your baby home for the first time.

That sounds like good advice. I think, if they ever DO call and tell me the coach is in... I will confirm that I WILL NOT BE PAYING FOR THE COACH UNTIL AFTER THE PDI IS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY. We are not doing financing, so it should not be a big, long "fill out the paperwork" thing, if they try that route on us.

We had a date when our Redwood was supposed to be delivered. Then it was to be delayed a couple of weeks. To help move things along, we were asked to close the deal while we waited out the extra two weeks. I was also asked if I was interested in an extended warranty ahead of delivery. Hats off to Lifestyle RV, I declined and there was no pressure. PDI went well, closing was 10 minutes and also no hassle. They are also storing our Redwood at no cost for about a month. I worried way too much for nothing about all those aspects of the closing.

Thanks Chuck & Carol. We most certainly will do the PDI first and then work on the paperwork. If we have to spend another night or 2 in a hotel, so be it, I will feel a lot better about the process.
