I'll go check them after it stops raining. They're suposed to be set at 110

I hope you don't get the rain we had or the wind we are having right now, it's blowing 25 to 35 steady with 60mph gusts.

I'd like to hear more about pulling into the closed weigh stations. I've been tempted to go through an open one but I didn't know the scales were left on. If I'me understanding correctly.

I suppose if you do get our weather it will delay the delivery of our rig as it did yours.

Dave what was your gross weight, the truck and trailer together total?

That's not as bad as I thought it would be.

I took the hitch out of the truck today and put it 4 inches closer to the cab. It did help the ride a lot. The six foot bed is not a problem with these trailers at all. NO SLIDER IS NEEDED

No...they had the b/w companion set as far back as it would go. I'd like to see if they make an "off set" for the ball so I could move it 2 inches closer

Did the dealer actually install your hitch with the king pin behind the center of the rear axle?

No...they set it right over the axle. But they had the brackets adjusted too far back.

The companion hitch has brackets, that with adjustments can move the 5th wheel hitch up or down and forward or back depending on your needs. I now have mine adjusted all the way up and forward toward the cab. I still have plenty of room to turn the truck. I would really like to move it a little forward to help put some of the weight on the front axle.

If you moved it forward you did put weight on the front axle. It should have been set so the center of the kingpin was about 2 inches forward of center on the rear axle, if you are further forward than this you are creating a dangerous condition as well as possibly putting to much weight on the front axle. You should have someone look at your hitch that installs them for a living to make sure it is setup right.

A new truck with training wheels will do the trickI would never go back to a single again. My last two truck campers were 4,600lbs and you need a real truck for that

I am really surprised that the slide in truck camper is not more popular because you can go anywhere with them. The price is a little high or a lot high, but they are getting fancier these days.

Yup pricey for a good one, the Big Foot truck campers are like a Redwood, top of the line. Ours even has a full stand up shower. The only thing I did was add a solar panel and change out the coil spring queen matteres for a custom made one as I have three brokenvertebraein my back and need something good. Will see how the Redwood works out. I have been using truck campers for may years and will not part with this one, may not end up using it very much after we takepossessionof the Redwood though

I'm betting once you start using the redwood you will look for places to go that will accommodate its size.

I wouldimagineit will be like most things it will be just time to get used to how big it is an to get her around. I am not sure I can get her in the drive way so I have madearrangementsto store her for now, wil be retired next year and on the road. Trying to convince the Wife to sell the house and travel for a few years but no luck so far, maybe once shesettlesinto the redwood then maybe. Just think no property taxes no house insurance no hydro or water bill and all the otherexpenses, you can do a lot of traveling with these savings. But maybe she will see the light

Dan we know what your talking about, we sold out a long time ago it is a beautiful way of life as you said, no taxes no utility bills maintenance is less and best of all if you have an annoying neighbor you can pack up and move. Our monthly payment and insurance equates to less than half of most peoples home mortgage payment alone.

I do not miss the home upkeep/maintenance such as mowing the grass, painting the deck, etc. Now to clear out the cargo trailer.
