toured the factory on Nov. 2, 2012. Very pleasant person met and took Carol and
me on a tour of the assembly line. As an EE engineer (now retired!) I enjoyed
seeing the installation of the wiring, routing of the wiring and installation
of electrical devices. Also, seeing the roof construction, details of the
walls, floors, framing, liquid tanks and many other details were well worth the
four day trip.</span>

From
my background that includes design of industrial and residential electrical
systems, design of complex to rather simple electronic systems I was impressed
with the quality of the electrical, plumbing, HVAC and data system materials
Redwood was installing. When installed properly the Redwood should provide many
trouble-free years.</span>

Our
Redwood 36RL (just about fully loaded) has arrived at the local RV dealer (it
was in the transfer lot at Redwood when we were visiting).</span>

We
will work with the RV dealer going through a detailed checkout of all systems
on Nov. 17. We plan to take delivery in early to mid-Dec. or whenever all is
working. The dealer will need some extra time to install some the options we
ordered (washer, dryer and 6.5 KW gen set).</span>

After
all is good to go I will do some RV'ing at a nearby RV state park and put all
systems through a workout and hopefully all will go well. For this area the
temperatures will be anywhere from mid-40's to bone chilling cold so will
evaluate the heating system capabilities and other all-season support systems.</span>

By
next Feb. Carol and I will set out on our Eagle spotting trip. Eagles are prevalent
in our area and wonderful to observe from a distance as the trees are bare
however it can be very cold outside. It's going to be fun.</span>

I'm glad your wait is finally about to end! I know from experience that the last few weeks are the worst. This had been posted on other threads on this site, make sure you check the water filter, open both battery boxes, check the size of your LP tanks (if you ordered the 40's) and check the Dirt Devil. These are all small things but they seem to be the small things that gets over looked.

I hope to meet up with you someday and share a drink, enjoy your new rig and congratulations.

I take
to heart your cautions and you are right that the various forms note there are
many items to double check and not take for granite.</span>

I am
noted by fellow workers and family as an extreme detailed person. I still miss
things however I can at times be a little too much.</span>

Carol
and I will meet with the dealer this Sat. and have reserved the whole day for a
system by system check. The gen and W/D will not be installed by then however I
will check those on a final test. The dealer suggested the two 4-6 hour check
outs so they are ready to give us the time which I am so thankful for.</span>

Lots
of feedback to me about my truck being undersized for the 36RL. I went through
Redwood factory data, Onan's data, the washer and dryer data, tossed in a
generous amount of personal belongings weight, had Reese provide the total
weight for the Elite 18K hitch, tossed in more (at 8.3 pounds/gallon) for a
little water and then more for two passengers and all the stuff I carry in the
truck (tools, supplies, baggage). The total weights, on the hitch were 900
pounds under max (assuming about 25% of trailer weight on the hitch - I bumped
up the percentage from Thor to account for the extra LP tanks, W/D and gen
set). Total towing was about 14.8K.</span>

In
Dec. or soon after the gen and W/D are up and running I will have the weights
checked again to be sure I really am okay.</span>

Ford
has my specific truck model (gearing, engine, rear end) and heavy duty towing
package rated at 16K. I should be at about 15K towing with all my estimates.</span>

By now
it's probably apparent that not only am I a detail nut but also a worry wart!!</span>

I am
RV'ing in eastern Kansas this week. Past 24 hours of weather was interesting
(snow/ice/24 degrees F). This morning the sun is out and temp.'s are up to 30.
I disconnected my city water connection last evening to avoid super problems
and used the onboard water. Looking like a nice RV'ing day.</span>

Bpb.I can tell you that our RL shipped from the factory at 13.7K and that was minus the Combo Washer/Dryer (150Lbs), two 40 Lbs Propane tanks (150 Lbs full) and our Sat Dish (approx 100 Lbs), so we're just over 14K before we even put paper plates into the unit. We long time, so we do tend to travel heavy. Recent scale weight actually put us slightly over the 16.5K gross, but more important we were under the 14K axle limit, but we're carrying 3900 Lbs on the Pin.
