Yes we have the big TV in the front and the rear. Really nice not to have to squint to see the picture! We absolutely are in love with this rig....so far! Lol

Just laughing at where we are at. Started in a tent 1969…no tv's just simple radio, had loads of fun and moved up from there and spent a fortune doing what we love most. No regrets, our Redwood is our home for seven months each year and we love it. Happy Holidays all!

Great post and got me thinking. Started also in late 60's when parents purchased about a 12' very basic caravan before moving up to a 16' caravan, which was huge in those days in UK. Then in 1980 we borrowed the in-laws truck and camper, spending over a month with 2 dogs on our honeymoon. One of the best holidays we have had.

Only managed just over 2 months in the RW in the first year, but hoping for about 7 months in year #2.

This was bliss to me at one time in 1980

This was in Banff in 1980. It's not quite a Redwood

Since the mid-seventies we've gone thru 2 tents, 2 pop-ups, 2 travel trailers, and now 2 fifthwheels. When we started with the first tent, we loaded all our gear into a Chevy Vega Hatchback. Anyone remember them, stop at a gas station and request to fill it up with oil and check the gas.

Christmas day and off to the kids. Your posts of the old days brought back those simple times again. Was that a Eureka space tent ATOM? That was our first real tent after the 20x20 real canvas tarp and then shelter halves. I thought the screen door was the cats meow after sleeping out in the open. Have a great safe day ALL!

Had one. Leaked so bad I cut a hole in the floor to let the water out when it rained.

That looks similar to what we had. Back in the late 60's and early 70's my dad had a 4x4 chevy that he put a 36 inch topper on. He had a winch and 200 ft of cable on the front. We had it equipped for survival in the Rockies during the winter. Complete with enough Coleman fuel for the heater to last 30 days if we got "snow bound" too bad. We'd pack our "goose down" sleeping bags, food and head for the mountains with chains on all 4 tires with the question of how far we could make up "Snowy Range Pass" in Wyoming. Once we got to where the truck couldn't go any further we'd start the heater, unroll the bags and stay up all night watching it snow while discussing life and playing cards.

It was always a 5 day 2400 mile trip full of father and son bonding. On several occasions we'd put that winch to good use, many times helping others that weren't as well equipped.

I don't know about others, but those days, although lots of fun, are not days we wish to repeat. Old bones and hard ground just don't mix. We prefer our Mobile Home on Wheels with all the comforts of Home.

Yes, it is fun to reminisce periodically about the experiences of our younger years, but return to them - not happening.

The Redwood is now our definition of camping - all the comforts of home coupled with a fraction of the space to maintain and keep clean.

I enjoy the comforts that the modern RV offers but sometime we have to look back to see how far we've come.

Never say never.....

I just learned not to long ago my RV loving folks that retired their MH and all of their stuff when they turned 75, still sneak out and camp in a tent over the weekend so they can go hiking and fishing.

Ya came a long way up to this rig. We still have our truck camper for those areas where its not practical. Sure do miss all the canoe trips we did, but the old back just can't handle that any more

I would love to get a truck camper, now that I have a dually. Short trips with the boat. I've looked at a couple of used Lance
