What part of Oregon are you from, as we just returned from spending 5 weeks on the Coast.

I would like to know about taking coach into Canada in a couple of weeks. Much conflicting information on internet returns....... We're probably going from Washington state into BC

We will be entering New Brunswick tomorrow afternoon, first time with the coach out of USA. Have passports, coach full of food and assorted liquor so we will see!!!!! Will let you know

We have had our coach into Canada from the Northwest at BC and had our Montana into Canada at Ontario and on to Novia Scotia and PEI. We had no problems except we were chosen for a full search of the coach when we went into Ontario. No problem. Do NOT take fire arms into Canada. Even mace is not allowed. We greatly enjoyed both of our trips to Canada.

COLJDM, careful on how much liquor you bring back into the US. Don't known about Canada, but coming back from Mexico, we were only allowed one bottle. Suggestion, throw a big party prior to your return. Enjoy and safe travels. Vic

As previously noted you can't bring any guns into Canada. Booze is limited to 1 liquor or 2 wine or 12 beer per person. However, we always declare what we have and as long as it is reasonable have not been made to pay. When returning from our last trip we had 3 liquor, 12 wine and some beer and he waved us through.

For food, we ensured we didn't have any fresh fruit, but we weren't asked any questions about food.

When we enter the US we get questioned on rice, fruits, vegetables and the dog food.

If coming into Canada from WA, avoid the Pacific Border or truck crossing, especially returning to the US as it can be a challenge with a big rig in the car lanes. The other 3 crossings are OK.

...and make sure you have current pet inoculations WITH papers to prove it!

We took our TT into Canada almost every year. Never had a problem. Prior to 9/11, it was hardly more than a wave to go to NB from Maine. Even after 9/11, we were never asked to open it up for them. As stated previously, no firearms, limit on booze and cigarettes, bring paperwork for your pets. If you purchase anything in Canada, keep your receipts in an envelope ready to hand to customs upon your return. Enjoy your trip!

Same goes for going into Mexico. Avoid going through Tijuana, too many switch backs, construction of the new TSA/Customs facilities, and the bridges are to low.

Coming back, be expecting a four hour wait and adhere to the above guidance.

Steve - great point, we carry a file folder with all pet info. The last time down we had it ready, but the Border Guards didn't want to inspect them.

We crossed into Canada 2 days ago. The limit on alcohol was 40oz per person for beer and 25 oz per person for hard liquor. Absolutely no mace or pepper spray and they look for weapons. Then inspected our coach for liquor, food and weapons. We declared everything, kinda funny when we told them we had 7 bottles of bourbon, 2 of Crown Royal, gin, 2 vodka, 3 wine, and some assorted after dinner type liquor. Fortunately they didn't make me pay duty, were extremely professional and extremely courteous. Hopefully re-entering USA we will experience the same process.

Usually polite honest responses receive polite reactions from border guards in both directions. Enjoy your stay in the Great White North... been in the mid 90s in Ontario for the past week so you will need to keep the snow shoes packed for this trip.

This is from the Canadian Boarder services website for visitors coming into Canada

"You are allowed to import only one of the following amounts of alcoholic beverages free of duty and taxes:

• 1.5 litres (53 imperial ounces) of wine; or
• a total of 1.14 litres (40 ounces) of alcoholic beverages; or
• up to 8.5 litres of beer or ale."

Getting excited my new Redwood 36RL has arrived at my dealership Hitch'n'go in Delhi, Ontario and will be ready for pickup next Wed.
Any suggestions on things to look for or ask about while I am there?
