On the Road with 2014 31SL
We picked up our 2014 31SL this week in Georgia and are slowly making our way back to New Mexico. We are taking our time and enjoying the good life. This is our first RV. Neither my wife our I had ever pulled or backed anything larger than a Uhaul trailer. So we decided to take some training learning to back, some road safety, prechecks, etc. The training definitely boasted our confidence and I'm sure we are safer road warriors because of it.
The first campground we stayed in had another RW which we camped next to. We never met the owners but it was nice having another RW as a neighbor.

Welcome and we hope you enjoy your Redwood as much as we do ours. What part of New Mexico are you coming too, we are here in Ruidoso, one more Redwood in the park here and another across the street at another park.

Welcome, and enjoy that 31SL. You'll find that the 31 SL is adequate and much easier to get in to and out of many parks. It is a learning experience but a great lifestyle!

Kudos on getting the training. There are a lot of RVers on the road that should take advantage of the same thing. Everyone would benefit.

How or where did you manage to get some backing training? I haven't had any luck in that area.

Find an empty parking lot, set up some obstacles & practice, surprisingly it's not that difficult Once you've figured out how to line up.

We have not had ours very long and have been lucky to get pull-throughs so far. Until I put the RW in storage and needed to back in.....First shot into a relatively narrow spot! Call it luck this time. There's some decent you tube videos. The trick is knowing when to begin chasing from the jack position while backing, and a good spotter. I think it is a good idea to explain to the spotter that the driver needs to not only watch the spotter, but also the TV front end, the trailer wheels and angle. As they say, practice-practice-practice.

We took our training from RVSCHOOL ( RV School). They have trainers in every state.
