Met Phil ? from Utah in a '13 BR this past weekend at Picacho Peak Rv resort on there way to south Texas. Ask if he was on either forum & said he reads occasionally, but not a member. We traveled all summer & saw 3 maybe 4 on the highway, didn't stay anywhere that there was one in the park.

There are two RWs in the Oasis RV park in Amarillo, TX where we are now. One looks like a permanent resident the other is just a couple of sites from us. In many miles over the last couple of weeks these two are the only RWs at a park where we've stayed. Many Mobile Suites & Elites everywhere. Wonder what's up with that ..

While on a bike ride in Medford, Oregon last week we saw two Redwoods parked in the new Jackson County 'Southern Oregon RV Park' Very nice park! I would recommend it if you're in the area traveling up or down Interstate 5. We also saw a black and grey Redwood traveling south on I-5, I think following a black Ford F450. Seems like we're seeing a few more Redwoods recently?

Just pulled into Western Hill Campground in Rawlins, Wyoming. Through the crazy wind and dust, we see another RW already set up in the campground. Black and maroon attached to a white Ford.

George and Lisa - quick question, how is the rig in high winds ? We will be doing our first long tow with Fred behind us in a couple weeks. I'm figuring it won't be any difference with the suspension I have on the coach but wanted to ask the "much more experienced tower of extra things". Lol

If there are high wind warning signs posted on I-80 through Wyoming, don't take a chance.

Those winds through there can get brutal, so as Larry said don't chance it, check the weather before you leave, if too high stay where you're at as there's much out that way.
If heading into the wind, have plenty of fuel, couple years ago we drove into about a 45 mph wind & burnt 32 gallons of fuel in 89 miles before we found a place to stop.
Surprisingly these duallys handle our RWs very well in moderate cross winds, but not well enough you can relax too much. Watch the weather carefully & drive safe & you'll do fine.
Talk a couple here last week that said in their 38' motor home last year we're driving along & a micro burst hit them & instantly changed lanes when 2nd burst hit he said all he saw was sky & ended up in the ditch on the far side if the interstate. His DW informed him that their rv days were over.

Kansas is the one that scared me, towing home our brand new Redwood west along 40 I think it was.

Little college girl in front of us with a u-haul towing a car stopped with us in a rest stop and she was visibly shaken. She came up and said "did you feel those with your trailer?!!". I said oh - ya, they came out of nowhere and hit me in the side like an invisible locomotive!

When we did our big trip a few years ago, our friends who now have a '15 FL, still had their MH, a Winnebago Tour, 42' DP towing a Ford Fusion. When out West they had more trouble staying in their lane than we did with our '12 36RL. Overall size and length we were within inches of each other.

Sorry if I have a hard time believing that. That 44,000lb Freightliner tag should have been easy to handle. Some drivers tend to really try to over-steer in the wind.

In 2008 we had a 36' Gas MH and were in WY on I-80 westbound between Laramie and Rawlins. I saw the wind warning but it said trailers and I thought no big deal. Boy I was wrong 65 MPH cross winds I got off the road quickly and parked for the night. I don't scare easily but that one had me shaking. Hard way to learn but wife says I am hard headed.

These high profile RVs are challenging in windy conditions but the Jeep didn't affect it at all. We watch it closely and stopped every couple hours to make sure it is secure. We have only been doing short days with this leg of travel--we are only going 4 to 5 hours a day. We are heading to Washington state for a couple weeks.

Side note: loving the MORryde IS. Don't think it has any impact in the wind one way or another; but with the wind gusts, it was nice to not have the banging and chucking.

We stopped in Rawlins for the night last night. Wind is much better today and we made it to Ogden, UT. We have a very healthy fear of wind. Lisa's brother rolled a semi and went through the windshield, broke his neck. (a year later he is back in a truck driving)

Larry, may be a silly question... when you roll like that, do they total the rig?
