Thumbs down Slider motor replaced

Hello. We have been full-timing in our 36 RL for 2 years. We arrived in Myrtle Beach yesterday, and the bedroom slider no longer moves in or out! After investigation, we realized that one motor is working and one is not! We need to get that motor out for repair or replacement. However, since the slider is in and no longer will come out, we can not get to the screw that will release the motor.

Question is "does anyone know how to manually move the slide out"?

I think the Schwintek motors require 12 VDC to hold the slide in place. You might be able to move the slide in/out by disconnecting the positive (Red) cable at the battery. Then two people (one on each end of the slide) could pull it out or push it in. That is what I would try. Just be sure to re-connect the battery cable after you move the slide.

According to the Lippert InWall Slideout owners manual:

In the event that the InWall slide unit fails to operate and manual operation is necessary, proceed as follows:
1. Locate the control panel
2. Unplug both motors.
3. The room may now be pushed in or out as desired. Larger rooms may take several people to push. Try to keep both sides of the room even. When the room is completely in, plug both motors back in to the controller, this applies a brake to the motors and keeps the room in the locked position. WARNING: DO NOT MOVE RV UNLESS MOTORS ARE PLUGGED IN!!

Hope this helps.

There are also error codes that will be set in the controller which will indicate which motor and where the problem exists. Once an error code is set the control board needs to be re-set. Energizing the extend/retract switch resets the board, then simply press the extend/retract switch again to operate.

One other thing. If no one has told you, whenever extending or retracting always keep the switch depressed for 3-5 seconds after the motors stop. This keeps everything set properly.

I had the same thing happen and it was not a bad motor. I simply sprayed the motor with CRC and it worked as good as new. My motor would engage and stop after 1 1/2. Is your motor trying to move the slide. I also had one of the white control boards quit working and once replaced they worked fine. Dave has a post on how to lube the swintech slide. We were in one place for 5 mths and the slide wouldn't move all it needed was lubed. I now do it every couple mths.
