If the brushes armature were bad did you try taking it to a motor rewind place. They can rebuild these motors for a lot less money than a new system

Time was not on my side however I will be exploring a rebuild option to create a spare.

Bob I had the same problem on my living room and kitchen slides. They would start for a bit then trip the breaker, I would let it set for a bit and it would work again but trip again after moving a little way. I read about the automatic resetting breakers in the front of the RV above and behind the batteries on the back wall. The breaker you are interested in is No. 1. All I had to do was turn the breaker around, they had the breaker hookup backwards on mine. I took the two wires off the bottom post and loosened the top post from the copper bar, turned the breaker so the bottom post is now up and top down. Tighten the upper post nut and reconnect the two bottom wires. These breakers are polarity sensitive. Once I turned mine over the slides go in and out without tripping the breaker. The copper post should be on the top attaching to the copper bar and silver post to the load or slides and lights. Check which color post is up and if it is the silver post up, yours is backwards too. See diagram http://www.redwoodowners.com/forums/...icture752.html

Thanks for the super photos and info. Unfortunately the hydraulic pump motor failure was due to a loose power lead on the motor. The heat from this loose connection damaged the brush holder. After replacing the entire slide/leveling pump, control valves and reversing contractor (purchased updated and more robust system from LCI) all works well. During the install I tightened many loose power and control connections, replaced several cable connectors and control wire spade connectors then tie wrapped the cables and control wiring into neat and strain relieving bundles. All has worked well since. I also replaced the pump breaker due to so many trips before spotting the pump motor loose connection. Meanwhile I have the hydraulic assembly stored at home for spare parts. It is on my to do list to examine the pump motor and determine if the armature commutator bars and one brush holder can be economically rebuilt.
