Anybody have any idea what this is?

When I was doing a little housekeeping in the basement area, I found this device loose on top of the water heater.

Looks like the factory attempted to secure it with some foil duct tape, just not much tape so it is floating around loose.

Anybody have any idea what it is?

It appears to be some kind of sensor / switch just laying there, one little piece of foil tape on it.

View of the loose device / sensor a little further back

I secured the switch / sensor a little better using some foil tape, it should stay put now !!!

Yep, it is on top of the water heater, I assume it is part of the water heater electrical system but I do not know.

I sent the question with pictures to Crossroads Customer Service also, guess I will see if they can tell me what it is.

Thanks for the info.

I did not look under it to see if it had any type of tape to hold it on.

The factory had a small piece of foil tape attempting to hold it on.

Now it has lots of Foil Tape holding on it !!!

That's the Water Heater's AC relay where the AC connects to the element once the relay senses the 12V coming from the monitor panel's switch.

Ah - very perceptive! That would make sense. The reason I haven't seen it before is I've never had the inside switch for the AC, let alone a low voltage/relay type.
