Do the Carefree awnings have the adjustable pitch arms? The brochure would indicate so, but everytime I see a video of redwood they just run them straight out flat pitch.

Yes, there is a button on each side you have to push in and adjust the pitch. We adjusted ours all the way down.Puts the awning on a nice pitch

We were told that you could adjust the pitch down by three holes on one side and not worry about putting it back when you roll it up.
What they didn't tell me was that you make the adjustment while the top is rolled up, not extended. The salesman did it while the top was extended and struggled to get it to cooperate.

Went to the Dallas RV show last weekend and asked about adjusting the awning. Factory rep showed me how and he did it with the awning extended. He hadno problems. The only thing he said was to use the switch in the bay when retracting the awning if you change the pitch and make sure it clears your outside and porch lights. When it's adjusted out to the last hole it's very cool and you can almost reach up and touch it.

I adjust mine all the time with both awnings extended. It's easy to do if you have a step stool or ladder. As was mentioned earlier, in order for them to retract correctly they have to be adjusted within 3 holes of either end.
To be honest, I kind of wish they had aluminum cased awnings on these units. It would be classier and help keep the sun from rotting the fabric.

We ordered full metal wraps. They work an aluminum can being wrapped around a paper towel roll.

When the awning is retracted, it does not matter the pitch angle. The awning always ends up at the same place at the side of the coach. I have adjusted mine both retracted and extended. The first time I extended the awning after adjustment retracted, it go hung up for a moment, once it freed it self, it has never given us a problem since. We keep our awning at the lowest point at all times.

The metal wraps, or alumigaurd, is one of the options now. We added them to both awnings, but at the sacrifice of the LED awning light option (not compatible).
You might be able to get them from Carefree of Colorado directly.
Thanks for the info on the pitch folks. I tested one at the show today. Amazing Engineering - reach in the basement and extend, nothing happens. Push retract and the awning extends. We couldn't get it back up, wired wrong, so we quietly snuck away in the crowd Edited by: atom ant

Dan, We've had wraps on all our coaches. We had it added to our build sheet. They look great.

Thanks for the info, at the time we ordered ours I didn't know they were an option, I guess I will see if I can get them from RW

They didn't have it on the order sheet, I just asked them and our salesman asked and they said OK. So he hand wrote it in along with the other items we ordered not written up.

I don't think you can retrofit existing awnings though.
