Best shore power cord?

Anyone who can recommend a good brand for Power Cable?

The one that we got with the RV unfortunately did melt because of a leak between the right angle adapter and the Redwood supplied shore cable.

Can not find what brand the original is so thinking it is better to get whatever good brand there is out there.

Not interested in a cable winder/reel just a new 50AMP/50ft and preferable with a right angle twist lock so no adapters are needed.

Grateful for tips!

I've had good luck with the Marinco stuff. I don't have one of their 50 amp cords but I do have a 50 to 30 amp 25 ft. one about 7 years old, it twists into the 50 amp plug on the Redwood and the male plug is a 30 amp to go into campground boxes that only supply 30 amp service.

I have had to put a 30 male replacement plug onto it but that's a problem with the older 30 amp pedestal plug, not the Marinco unit itself.

+2. Lots of experience on the Marine side. Marino builds a quality product. Check Amazon for pricing.

Ok thanks, I found a small brand Conntek from WI not sure if good but Midwest people are trustworthy. I am one ;-)!

I want to have the ring as well, is the marine screw on ring the same as the land/RV twist lock?

Hubbell makes a 50 Amp twist-lock but I have not seen one that has a right angle connector.

I was worried about that and got the 45 degree adapter. It keeps the RW cord from being stretched down. It has the ring locks on both sides. Once you get a new cord, look into the adapter.

I don't know what brand mine is but it has a handle on it so it's easy to get a hold of. It also has 2 blue LED lights to show if I'm getting power from both legs. I really like these features

RadioFlyer: The adapter is what caused the water leak so i prefer to get just one cable that is angled itself and as far as I can see the Conntek seems to be that. Did some Googleing today.

We never disconnected the 90 degree adaptor from the shore cable so hard to tell when it started leaking water.

Dave&Ginny: I think that the blue lamps is actually on the one we are looking at! So you might have a Conntek then! And you seem to like it so I have emailed the company to try to get one.

Just made me a bit curious to see that the plastic was just melted inside and impossible to get the adapter disconnected from the Redwood shore cable without cutting it apart.

We realized that something was wrong not via the surge protector but we got a little tingle when checking underneath and had a hand on the metal rail while kneeling on most ground and also the dishwasher showed E9 Electric Controller Error but that might have absolutely nothing to do with it.

That is scary. I haven't an issue "yet" with the adapter, but I will keep an eye on it now. Post up when you get the new cord in and what you think.

My 2cents worth, a 100k rig shouldn't have a cord you have to store and drag out every time you use it. When I traded my Landmark in February which had the electric cord reel I told my dealer the RW would have the same cord reel as the Landmark or there wouldn't be a deal. Turns out there was no problem installing the electric cord reel and it comes with a super cord. Just sayin..............

I would be glad to send you a picture, I have tried without success to post the picture. I normally don't have an issue sending pictures but my computer gets no response from the Manage Attachments. If you like send me your email and I will send you a picture...............the door and reel are located on driver side at the back of the coach, properly located the wiring from the plug in receptacle on the rear of the coach will attach directly to the new reel. Hope this helps.

Installing the Power Cord Reel on a Redwood FL model is a challenge as there is no room back there.

I think the Redwood FL model is currently the only RW that does not offer the Power Cord Reel.

That answers my question since we also have the FL. We are short on under storage that is why I asked and for Mr. Atom Ants reply........ if I knew.... I would not have asked that question.
I was not familiar were it was located on the new models either.

On the typical Rear Living model on "Off Door Side" there is a lot more room between the rear slide and the rear cap, that is where the Power Cord Reel is typically installed.

On the Front Living Model, there is not much room between the Rear Bedroom Slide and the Rear Cap so there is no room for the Power Cord Reel.

Don't chomp on me - I wasn't even talking to you, I was responding to Slideone - his description of where they put it is exactly where the factory puts it so I was saying that is probably in the same place. That's all I was saying. I was actually trying to dig up some pics I took of it at the RV show last year but they were too close to show location.

Typically I quote a question if I'm responding to it and its not the last entry.
