Our 31SL cracked as well. Camping World wanted to put a body and fender man on it when they could get around to it. instead of waiting I repaired it with a piece of stainless steel tee bar from a marine shop. I cut a seam in the fiberglass with a Dremel with a cut off blade. I also cut the flange of the tee to about 3/16" deep. This way I did not have to pry the fibergall away from the backing. I used 3M 5200 marine adhesive/caulk/bedding compound to fasten the repair in place.

Just checked our coach today and a stress crack and bulge has started on a 45 deg angle from the front bottom corner of our bedroom slide.
Only about 1-1/2" long so far. Will keep an eye on it.

Would this by any luck or chance be covered by Redwood even if I'm not the original owner? Have the same issue at a 45 degree angle from the corner of the bedroom slide.
I purchased it used from someone who purchased it at a auction in Florida. Trying to get some past history on the unit with no luck at all. I had e-mailed a Redwood Representative found on this forum who I can't recall, but his reply was there is no history kept of this units.
Would think there is some type of service, warranty history based on vin# which is typically asked for when parts etc are required.
Thoughts comments please and thanks

With help from a fellow RWer (sorry can't remember who) I repaired mine 2 years ago for about $5+/- & took about a hour. Used the fiberglass panel joint "T" from Lowes, some adhesive, a Dremel tool, & touch up paint that came with the RW.

We hear this all the time... but does anyone actually know what causes this?

It's a "stress" crack because of the small amount of material in that corner with the slide opening. Some FL owners have had cracks on both sides because of the two front slides.
Redwood is not alone with this problem.

I get that, but wonder why some units get the crack and some don't. I'd like to avoid because both the crack and the fix look unsightly.

Redwood offered those metal slide floor reinforcements that provide the slide rollers a metal surface to roll on (originally developed to protect the slide floor). Fairly challenging to retrofit so they're sitting in my garage. Now I wonder if a slide that rolls out/in with less effort would reduce the stress on that corner.?

In my case and many others it starts with a broken weld in the sidewall framing due to a lack of structure. The service center cut about a 1' x 2' section out of the sidewall and welded in additional bracing.

Do you have full body paint? Can you detect the patch area after refinishing?

I have the fully body paint and you could not tell once the work was completed. There is another thread with pictures on the last page of the reinforcing that was done in the side wall.

The crack is only in the fiberglass not in the plywood under it. These things have to flex some or things would be broke all the time & that is the weakest point. My last SOB developed the crack on the top corner of the bedroom slide.
Also the metal strips for the rollers under the slide are easy to install, you'll likely have to cut to length & drill holes for screws, I used a ladder with a couple pieces of 2x4, one on top of ladder placed a jack on it with other piece under the slide & raised the slide only enough to get the metal in & screwed in place with stainless steel screws, took about an hour once cut & drilled.

Hmmm, this is the only 5'er of mine that cracked like that, now I will say it was a small sample size, but all three had slides...

Ours appeared last year on one upper slide after we almost got air over a horrible bridge somewhere in NY.

Our 13 RE cracked on a 45 also. Dealer put a BS surface patch on it. They said that is what RW told them to do.
