Fisher Paykel said "there should be no problem running off a Generator" and said the output numbers given them by Cummins NW on my Genny were well within the limits and should be no problem. Thus the repair and change of the circuit board. That does not seem to have fixed the problem.

So, the next question I would ask them is, "Have you actually TRIED running one off of a generator? NO? Well, WE HAVE" Haha. Thanks Yale. I just KNOW we are going to figure this thing out.

Is your generator running through the surge protector? IMHO, it should not, i.e. the surge protector should be located upstream of the ATS.

had the very same condition/problem... all fixed now..

it is the genny it`s self.. (at least it was for my unit) a low idle condition caused the kilohertz to be too high. my genny produced the proper voltage/amps.. but kilohertz.. wat out.. it floated 62.3-67.9. A minor adjustment at a REAL GENERATOR SERVICE CENTRE.. ($25 bucks) cured most of my woes. may i suggest you purchased a proper energy monitor such as a KILL-A-WATT (EZ) to check your power settings. These little gizmos can and will tell you what each of your electrical appliances truly use for power consumption. ( on and off while connected-plugged in)

In north america kilohertz should be @60.0 + or - .01 ktz

3 visits to the redwood repair facility (first was 4 months!!!).. 16 returns to various dealers to get the huge list of things fixed... took the kid who fixed it all of 5 minutes identify and repair the problem...

Thanks, I've had this very thing checked on mine.
Cummins Northwest "The" Onan service center in the pacific NW has checked mine and said "everything is within spec". I don't know what the the exact reading were.

It makes sense, add to to the fact that probably the dish drawer is ultra sensitive to variation? Not sure what to think here. Clearly see a pattern.

Finally got chance to try. Dishwasher ran just fine through a short cycle on my Onan 5500 Marquis Gold LP. No error codes. My generator does not go through the surge suppressor.

Good to hear you confirmed. The Onan should not go through the surge protector as it already has internal circuit protection.

I am adding that to the list!!! They have to move my surge guard anyway because it's installed ON THE FLOOR and in the wrong orientation. YALE! I can't remember if you got a surge or not, but if you did, I would check on this! Manufacturer has specific instruction on the install orientation of the unit. Really there is only one way they DON'T want it, and of course, that's how ours is :-( If you DO have one and the genny is going through it, not surprising we BOTH have the E4 error, eh? Interesting. Thanks AA!!

Theresa, no surge protector here, I use a portable on ether goes on the power source. So it isn't possible mine effected by a surge guard with the generator.
