one more FYI...
my email thread from today about where to get inspections done
(I took out the names and email addresses - he was very responsive !)
His final response was :
a Redwood or Crossroads dealer
( but I called and the local crossroads dealer won't do it..)
On Fri, Aug 15, 2014 at 10:28 AM,
Agree, but are you saying no other dealers can do it ? Seems like a pretty generic inspection that any rv tech could do....

Subject: Re: Annual Inspection
Redwood dealer would be best
On Fri, Aug 15, 2014 at 9:22 AM,
Any Thor dealer or any crossroads dealer or any certified dealer ?

Subject: Re: Annual Inspection
Here is the list. The inspection must be done by a Dealer of Authorized Service Center to be valid. Generally it doesn't take as long for the inspection because there are no parts involved.
On Fri, Aug 15, 2014 at 8:33 AM:
Thank you ! I didn't get that list Is it anywhere else ?
Also, can my local RVIA certified tech do the inspection or do I have to wait in line at a dealer for another 6 weeks to get it done ?

Subject: Annual Inspection
The annual inspection needs to be done by a dealer or authorized service center. The hit list for the annual inspection is in your owners manual.

When I discussed some work with the Service Center, he said he could get me in somewhere, even at another Crossroads Dealer - but I got the impression there are Crossroads dealers that work with him, and some that don't.

I was told on Tuesday inspections CAN ONLY be done by a REDWOOD retail sales, they do not accept R.V.I.A. REPAIRS OR INSPECTIONS, so we have to pack OUR 36 FL up tow 80 miles put the RV into the que, last year, 6 weeks, rent a Hotel, wait to be informed the inspection has been done pick up RV, return to park, all while paying to keep pad @ park. Guess I will not be getting anymore inspections unless REDWOOD TAKES STEPS TO FIX THIS Stupid inspection system.

I believe this was discussed at the Rally Q & A, and the answer was the inspection can be conducted by any approved Redwood or Crossroads dealer, and this was from the President.
Specifically stated they don't accept mobile techs due to potential quality issues.

I understand where they are coming from because of what they control and are liable for, but the quality issue is a little ironic. I left the annual inspection and when I got home the slide seal was hanging out of the back of the unit (slid out of the track). I think a mobile guy might at least get on the roof!

Just because a dealership is an authorized retailer for Crossroads/Redwood, it doesn't mean that they have a clue what they are doing or that they have a qualified tech that knows what he/she is doing. The only hope we have is hearing from fellow Redwood owners as to their experience with a dealer.

After having an inspection, for my purposes, I think the inspection is basically useless. They didn't tell me anything I didn't already know and in fact I'm betting I'll fix the minor issues better than they would (They wanted to use Dicor for the roof, I have the factory color matched Alpha sealant).
