Danny,

Can you tell by looking at all the components if there are bronze bushings or do you have to remove the wet bolts to see what type of bushings? I have been told by the factory service center that the bushings are bronze, although, I have not personally confirmed that.

No Guy I couldn't tell by looking, I know now that most of ones that were hard to take grease were plastic (2 were in very bad shape). The bushings on the Equa Flex were bronze & in good shape.

Just FYI, it's the 3 1/8" shackle kit from Mor Ryde, don't have the part # in front of me right now. Also I don't have to lift the coach now to get them to take grease.

Danny........that is why I am not sure I believe all the bushings are bronze even though the factory service center claims that they are. I have always had a couple of wet bolts that I can not get to take grease. The service center says they were able to force grease, but, I am still a little skeptical.

Guy
If you take the nut off the wet bolt you will be able to see if they are bronze or plastic. Depending on which way the bolts face you may have to take a tire off.

Guy it would be a bit more involved than that, but if you take both nuts off of 1 of the center shackles & remove the shackle on the inside you could clean up the spring eye & check there. On mine the plastic bushings were all on the spring eyes, all were bronze on the equa flex. The bolts are splined onto the bolts on the outside, that's why you remove the inside shackle.

Danny, thanks. This is a project I want to be looking into before much longer.

Personally I would take 1 nut off one of the single rear eye where the spring attaches to the frame and you will get the same result

Yep! If you have xray vision to see thru that spring hanger. Not to be argumentative!! The bushings do not extend thru the hangers or shackles.

I will post a update after our move next weekend.

From where did you order your Mor/ryde SRE 4000 and heavy duty shackles? Most of what I have seen online is around $500. plus for just the SRE 4000.

Also, did you have to change anything relative to the dimension (width) of the frame hangers?

Guy, I got the shackles on Amazon for around $100 shipped & did not affect hangers. We (Roland & I) could have done just the shackles in an easy afternoon, but we packed bearings, adjusted brakes, & rotated tires while we were at it so it took about 8 hours total, had to break for happy hour.

I bought the SRE 4000 from Dyers for $375

MOR/Ryde SRE/4000 Suspension System for 33" Wheelbase Tandem Axle Trailers - RV / Trailer Suspension Upgrades - RV / Trailer Steering & Suspensions - Towing & Automotive

Dyers has the SRE 4000 and HD Shackle / Wet Bolt kit for a combo price of $459.

I have bought from Dyers before, good service and fast shipping.

I did not have to change anything on the Frame Hangers, everything fit fine, all bolt on, easy installation.

Danny........thanks for the information. I have seen the Amazon price on the shackles at $95.. The price on the on the SRE 4000 was $519.

You indicated that your rotated wheels. I have wondered if that would be a good practice. So far, with about 15K miles on tires, I don't see any abnormal wear. Did you just use the hydraulic system to lift the coach?

Rob...........thanks for the information. I had forgotten about Dyers and their site did not come up on my search. That is an excellent price on both the SRE 4000 and HD Shackle Kit.

After traveling the I-75 and I-65 highways to and from Florida this past winter, I definitely think this would be a good upgrade to the suspension system. The Mor/ryde IS would be great, but, I can't afford it and I can do the SRE 4000 & HD shackle kit myself.

Again thanks.

Yes Guy we used the level up to raise the coach & a couple of jacks to manipulate the axles. I have probably 25k+ on mine & have rotated the tires twice, anytime I have them off for maintenance.
