Hi, All,

Happily spent my first night in my shiny, new 36FB....and then made the mistake of taking a shower.

Over a cup of water leaked from the metal joints of the water catcher/ door jam of the shower stall. I thought it was me having the shower door open or something, but it's the shower stall.

(A friend of a friend also purchased a 36FB, so I was warned to look out for this!!)

Can folks recommend how to deal with a Leaky Shower Stall. Should I simply use silicone caulking? I will be calling the repair guy I guess..for another $128 dollar lesson.

Thank you in advance!

Robt.

Very simple fix. Just take clear bathroom caulk and put it at front of shower on the end. Took all of 30 seconds. You would think they would have it fixed by now. We got our 36FB in April.

Amazing... 1,000 units built; 1,000 units with leaky shower doors; 1,000 wet bathroom floors; 1,000 complaints to Redwood... still leaking?? Headscratcher...

We took delivery of our 36FB in Sept and have used the shower about 12 times, no leaks as of yet.

I think they've figured it out and fixed it. Our rl was made in Sept and we took delivery in Oct and no leaks in the shower (crossing my fingers and knocking on wood)

I too had a 36FB with a leaky shower. I re-caulked the entire surround and found I still had a leak. Later discovered water was leaking out the ends of the bottom door slide. I cut out the factory caulk and stuck a big glob of silicone at each end. That fixed the leak - Now the bottom of the door sticks to the 'glob' of silicone when the doors aresecured for travel

Our 2012 36RL was built between July 8th and August 31, 2011. I have not had any issue with the shower surround or door leaking. It must be a specifick shower type/style/brand that is the issue. I agree though that with all the complaints about this problem, you would think that it would have been fixed by now. I really wonder how many of the complaints really get fed back to Redwood.

As a matter of fact, after re-caulking,there is a continuing small leak...and it looks like I will follow your example witha glob of caulking at each end of the shower door slide thing.

"THE REDWOOD" yes also my shower leaked. But like many things I caulked it myself. Thought about using that black seal spray that floats a screen door but the wife said NOT>

Why not?

That sounds like a perfectly reasonable solution to me!

...and if there's a way to add alot of duct tape to it, then by all means!

My RL came with a self cleaning floor. Every time I shower the floor washes itself too. Now if I could only teach it to dry itself too....

Now I'm really pissed, no one told me about the self cleaning floor option!

Dave,

Tape a small towel to the bottom of your shower door and it will be self drying as well! Then once a week, through the towel in that nice washer/dryer that you have.

...self drying and self cleaning

Guy.....that's a great idea! I thought about buying my wife slippers made of chamois material but I didn't want to slow her down when she was fetching me a drink.

You know us campers have to think ahead and with her preparing my dinner, fetching me a drink when required, chopping the fire wood, doing the dishes and doing the laundry; I'm not sure the chamois slippers would be comfortable. Being the considerate husband that I am.....I'd want her comfortable for our camping excursions since I think she should enjoy the experience. Beside I'd be afraid she'd track water all over the place and I couldn't have that..........just kidding folks

P.S. in reality......my wife is truly spoiled as she should be

Dave, it's all in the way you phrase it. Just remind her that all those chores are a lot more fun when she's doing them in a scenic location! I think that will work...
