Crossroads RV is recalling certain model year 2014 Redwood trailers manufactured March 12, 2013, through July 22, 2013, equipped with certain Frigidaire KG-series microwaves... http://rv-pro.com/news/more-models-r...over-microwave

Thanks for the heads up! Picking up my New 38RL this weekend after they install the generator, I'll be having them check to see if mine is included in the recall. No idea of the build date on my RW.,

Ours actually did this on our first trip out! Thought it was maybe something we punched in wrong on the microwave like a delayed cooking time. So glad to see this post - having the dealer check ours out now!

Well even though our rig was manufactured March 2013, the serial number is out of the range.

If you have the referenced MW and you're having problems, regardless of whether the serial number is in the referenced range...I'd contact RW.

That would make sense.

To be honest, I think I've used it about twice. Been in storage more than in use unfortunately.

Has anybody had their microwave repaired or replaced? Our dealer tells us we might get it done quicker if we contact Redwood ourselves and let them come to us. Ours is definitely involved in the recall. Cannot understand why a safety issue like this is not a priority. We used to keep bread packages in ours. If we had had anything in it when it started on its own it would have caught fire!!!

Shame in your dealer!!! They should be doing the work for you.

Having said that, you might want to contact Redwood yourself, the worst that could happen is that RW tells you that you have to go through the dealer but they might just decide to work directly with you?

Dro67,
Ours was bad from day one. We were on the road so Redwood arranged to have one shipped to our campsite and authorized a mobile tech to do the install. It took a while because they didn't have a stainless replacement in stock so they had to order one.

Contact with Redwood!

Spoke to Lynn in the Service Dept. at RW this morning about the recall. He filled out the necessary forms and told me they would contact Frigidaire and the technician would go to the dealer to make the repair. Said that the repairs have been going fairly quick so I'm hopeful that with the unit being in Dallas where there are plenty of Frigidaire repair technicians we will get this done!! Guess contacting RW myself was the best way to go on this issue! I'll update when its completed!

Our microwave/convection oven isn't part of the recall, but the convection oven wouldn't come up to temperature. Our dealer has been working with Frigidaire trying to get a local service technician to trouble shoot the problem and repair.

Frigidaire were definitely not helpful and initially refused to talk to the dealer, as they weren't the owners. Our dealer had to explain the owners are out of the country for a number of months and they had been delegated responsibility for repairs.

Thanks to the dealer's service assistant they finally found a local technician, without much help from Frigidaire. Turned out to be a faulty thermostat, which is currently on order. Hopefully the part will be delivered by July 1st when we get home.

Had poor service from Frigidaire about 25 yrs ago and have never bought one of their products since. Appears their customer service hasn't improved.

Our 2012 is a Whirlpool and haven't had any problems and seems to work great. Maybe they should have stuck with it.

Na, think what kind of reputation the RV industry would have if they kept using stuff that worked!

Unhappy micro recall in the sticks

We haven't had a chance to take our 36RL out yet and received the microwave recall notice yesterday... we live 120 mi. from the nearest RV repair service and don't want to haul the whole coach in. You think they would be able to do service if husband removes it and takes it in?

Call redwood and see if they would assist - it's actually Frigidaire's recall though...

At least you got a letter... I'm within 10 minutes of a dealer and I've still not gotten a letter - and I know I'm in the range so I just unplugged the MW for now...

It's not just Redwood. Coachman and some of the other RV mfg. have the same microwave and have the recall. I would imagine with all the recall's Frigidaire is having a problem getting them all handled.
