New Electric Dump Valves and More

Hi everyone;
We just completed this job, and thought you might be interested. I wrote a short post about it here: THE ROMANY LIFE: New Electric Dump Valves, And MORE!
We plumbed our two grey tanks together so that they both fill to capacity by displacement. It works fantastic, we always dreamed of doing this, and I am not too sure why they don't do it at the factory. Now the trailer behaves as if it has ONE grey tank.
It was a tough job...

question... just how did you tie the 2 gray tanks together? (top) inlet side? or via the bottom outlets? or? any additional piping adding to assist in equalization? this IS on my to do list.. along with the 200++++ repairs needed.. on our 3013 36fl.

Sorry for the late reply! We were out of coverage at the coast to escape our high 90s temps here in Washington State. YUCK! We did not add any special extra plumbing to make the tanks equalize, they do that naturally. We simply removed all of the original plumbing, and installed a straight pipe connecting the two. NOTE: again, very important that the tanks drain in a logical pattern, or you will not get a complete empty in one of the tanks. The "higher" tank must drain to the "lower" tank, and the lower tank must then drain out. In our 38RL, the two greys are at SLIGHTLY different heights, and the connecting pipe (from tank opening to tank opening) is just slightly off of parallel (downhill to the lower tank #1 tho). When we are hitched to the truck (as when at a dump station) the nose of the trailer is slightly downhill from when it is on it's jacks, so this benefits the slope even more, and grey #2 (the rear grey) is more uphill from grey #1 (which is the lower tank). This helps to get a better clear-out. The bottom line, though, is that even if #2 retained a few gallons of water, it would still come out to be a much better capacity over all for us. We got to test it this past week and it worked brilliantly! We are SO pleased so far!

Joint Grey Tanks Equalization

You can do a quickie equalization of the grey tanks by adding an emergency valve on the end of your main exit.
https://www.amazon.com/Valterra-T58-...s%2C194&sr=8-3. $23
Keep your black closed and the grey will level out. To dump close both grey valves - dump black - then use grey to clean.

That trick only works if both Gray Tanks are on the same level. With our MB the Gray is in the dropdown section next to the Black, while the Gally is in the belly of the beast, well above the Gray.
