Parts: Skylight Fan; Fender Skirt

Towed 950 miles last weekend, two issues I need parts for:

1) a cast looking piece from one of the overhead vent fans broke which turned the cover loose and allowed it to flop open/closed in the wind. Would like to replace the parts/guts without installing a whole new skylight, recaulking, etc.

2) destroyed a tire which took out one of the plastic fender skirts. Need a new left side fender skirt.

Advice on how to track these down?

Look for the manufacturer of the vent fan along with the model number most likely found with the lid open looking from the roof, then contact them & get the "operator" for that fan. The last time I contacted them, pre Covid, they sent me one free.
You may be able to find the fender skirt at Trekwood, but be aware their shipping charges are ridiculously high. Might get the part # from them & order from somewhere that it wont cost more to ship it than you pay for it.

check your date code on the tire, if you're at or over 6 years old you need to replace all of the tires! These are the tires that many trailer owners are having good luck with.

The ceiling exhaust fan is the easiest and cheapest parts to find, Etrailer.com has most of that stuff in stock. You may need to by kit and just rob whatever parts you need so you can leave the roof caulking in place.

what do you think caused the tire to blow? was it low on air or damaged side wall from a curb hit? 17.5" tires still blow out but very few compared to 16" load range G tires. What brand of tire is on the trailer now?

Westlake tires I think, 5 years old. Tire did not blow out, it just threw all the tread off. Attributed to typical Chinese quality (I take care of my stuff).

I’ll be replacing all four before towing again.

There should be parts diagrams online for your particular fan. Remove the screen on the underside/ interior of rv and 100% sure there will be a model and serial number around the opening. They do break. Shouldn’t be too difficult to obtain parts or to do the install of replacement parts. If you need more than a few parts, it might be cheaper to buy a whole new fan/vent and remove the parts you need to do the swap.

Skirt

Years ago I dealt with Tiara Sales.

Not sure this lady is still there but this is where I bought my replacement fender skirts. They only come in black so if yours are painted then you’ll have to deal with that after you get it.
Good luck

Fender Skirt

If it is not completely destroyed, you can go to Home Depot and get some fiberglass cloth and fiber glass and repair it. I redid ours on our 36FL it not only repair it but also reinforces the whole fender. Much stronger then the original.

Jennifer Hawkins is the parts manager, Tiara Sales IS the same place as Trekwood .. IF you email Trekwood, the chances are VERY HIGH that either Jennifer or her husband Steve will be answering that email.
