A new option I found when visiting a very knowledgable dealer is the residential refidgerator. It is stainless and the option package includes the fridge, 1000 watt inverter, 2 batteries and the microwave and stove are stainless too.
Alsosaw some more changes, keyless entry is now part of entry handle instead of on side of coach, and the MCD shades have went from a white blackout shade, black partial view to both are now black. Also liked the LED light on awning roller, but can't get that option if I order the Unaguard awning, trying to find out why.

The dealer we were at is Carolina Coach and Marine in Claremont, NC, outside of Hickory. The pics of the fridge came from a unit on the factory floor. The unit they had at Carolina Coach had the new shades, LED awning lightand locks, it was a 38GK. Did pick up a 2014 build sheet that has the new pricing.

I am also in the process of negotiating a purchase of a FL36 and a dealership here in Canada sent me the price list with this option... didn't take long for us to go for it.

We should add that this price includes 2 group 31 batteries, a full sine wave inverter and the Convection oven.

The residential fridg. looks nice but I'm not completely sold on the idea for our use. I suppose if the trailer sat at a camp ground at one place it would be better. We travel so much with our unit and even though we have a genny, it would be costly to keep it running while going down the road. I realize with the inverter and extra batteries, the fridg could be sustained for a while but I'm not sure how long and I really like the independence that the current system offers.

A motor home usually has a generator running anyway (on diesel or gas) to help maintain the temperature of the coach while traveling. So with a motor home I can see the attraction.

I guess in time I could warm up to the idea and the extra space for the food would sure be nice.

X2 Dave. I like our current setup. Might be different if we were full-timers. Plus, what a pricey upgrade.

Thanks Travlingman for the option updates!

I just traded in an Open Range R416 with a residential refrig in it and I did not care for it. The inverter never ran it, it would not hold the load. You could not go out and turn on the frige to let it cool down prior to leaving like I can with the one I have now. It was so heavy it pulled away from the wall and had to be repaire twice, I always had to put a pillow against it and the slide out when closed to help keep it from moving to much going down the road. It could of been just my unit but I will not have one again.

By the way I just got back from Lazydays with my new 38GK and we love it. The PDI went good only minor problems.

Fred congrats on the new Redwood and thanks for the input on the fridge. I'm fearful that sometimes we RVer's get wrapped up with the "new" a "different" and forget the practicality of the product.

hope to meet you folks someday around a campfire

Thanks Travlingman for the option updates!
The upgrade is not that pricey if you opted for a 12 cu ft fridge with ice-maker because you remove that option and the convection oven. Then you gain a stainless convection oven, full-size fridge, an inverter and a serious set of batteries for a difference of approximately $800. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

The residential fridge is a big positive for us, I guess you could say a must have option. Want the size of fridge storage and from talking to owners, it is not as suspect to outside temperature changes. One thing I liked is the 1000 watt inverter with 2 batteries. Travelingwith these and the truck alternator, no trouble keeping it running. Some brands tried a 600 watt inverter which didn't work. We don't boondock so no issue there. As far as it being a new idea, I knowForest River has been using them for 5-6 years in their fivers with no issues. Agree with the price not as bad once we thought out all that came with package. Oh yea, forgot, wife likes the stainless, so guess which option will be checked?

Trying toconfirm some more of the new stuff added to the coach that I didn't list yet. Making sure what I was told which doesn't match brochure/website is going to happen. Questions into rep so should have answers in the next day or so. Get ready for more new topics with questions I am going to have for present owners. We were really impressed with what we saw and Redwood is at the top of our list now.

This will not work for everybody but once again it's great that Redwood keeps moving forward!

My Open Range had a 1200 watt inverter not a 600 watt. It started out with that and they changed it to 1200 watt, but still not good. If I was sitting at a place long term then it would be ok for a residential frige.

Do you know if the inverter was full-wave or modified square-wave? Modified square-wave inverters do not produce 'real' AC voltage and can cause issues with some equipment.Edited by: par

My wife likes the residential fridge, but we will wait a year to see how they hold up. Another great advantage for this forum.
