I read yet another article in the financial news today about the RV industries big recovery. Towable RV's are leading the way at Thor and several builders have double or even tripled their employment and production. Thor's sales are way up as are their profits.

That got be to thinking about quality control. Will higher sales and profits have a positive or negative effect on quality control at Redwood or not? I'm interested in hearing from buyers of new '13 and '14 units. How was the quality control on your new Redwood? With all the changes at Redwood and Carriage coming back online this year should be an interesting year in the RV industry to say the least.

Redwood and Carriage should be on this same forum, just like Blackwood is.

Higher sales did nothing for the quality of my 2013 36RE. Unless quality was good and went down.

Our 2014 36FB has been great. A few minor glitches that we'll have fixed when we get it to the dealer at the end of the month. We've been in it for 3 weeks now and put close to 2000 miles on it.

It's far surpassed our expectations in quality, comfort and liveability!!

My 2013 36RL was purchased in Nov '12, built in early Oct '12. So far have used it 5 times, towed approximately 1400 miles and as for problems, nothing major. A few normal "new rig" adjustments but the biggest was the Quartz countertop was cracked on delivery and the replacement was cracked in shipping. Redwood is going to replace it at the factory service center just before the Rally. I really wish we had the LG counters instead, but this was an in stock unit and had the Quartz. One of very few things I would change if I was ordering another - no Quartz (heavy as %^&& too).

Other than that, a few pieces of trim came loose and a few cabinet latches had to be re-adjusted. Overall, really happy with it. Oh, and they forgot to plug in the vacuum (my dealer didn't catch it either in PDI). Not a big deal, but had to pull the back wall in basement to get to it.

I couldn't be happier!

I have a limited basis of comparison - 2 Keystone products, 1 HR, 2 Fleetwood, and a few pop ups. This one is put together with some care and doesn't give me the impression of being slapped together. I get pretty intimate with my RVs as I prefer to do my own installs of equipment and do most of my minor repairs. I thoroughly check all plumbing fittings and electrical terminals before I even start. I found 1 ABS pipe drip under the bed (yes, I took all that apart to look) and it was a result of not getting glue all the way around the fitting. The rest of the wiring and plumbing and fixtures are neatly installed. They didn't use a chainsaw to cut a hole for a speaker wire like some of my prior rigs.

That said, quality has to be measured on two levels. The quality of the equipment and materials from the suppliers, which puts all RVs on a level playing field, and the quality of the assembly and installation. I would rate Redwood as the highest quality assembly of any I have owned so far.

I sit here in a pouring rainstorm after tree breaking high winds, and all is well. If any trouble was going to show up, it would be now.
