Does anyone have or know where to get a glass or good plexiglass for the screen door? I'm not used to a door withough a windowand it would be nice to have the main door open and getlight through the screen but with the AC on.

Brad, check your local Hardware store. I think it's 10mil plex-a-glass and it fits into the inside channel of the door. You just have to cut it to size. Have done that on all previous units and one of the first mods to the RW. Yes it lets in a lot more lite.

Go with plexi glass only. If you use glass, it has to be tempered which means that it has to be made to the correct size. Plexi is cheaper and easier to use.

Also lighter. Weight of glass would make that frame sag on its hinges.

Is the plexiglass easy to cut, or does it melt on the blade. I have to confess, the last time I tried to cut some of that stuff was the old gold plastic panels and the stuff globbed up on my sabre saw (circa 60s maybe).

Just like at home, you can probably bring the screen door to the glass company and they could do it for you. Pro job can't cost as much as ruining it... then having a pro do it (Ha)

Tip on cutting plexiglass. Put masking tape where you want to cut and draw your line on the tape.Get some light weight oil (3 in one or something like it) and lay a bead of oil on your line thentake a scroll saw with a fine blade and make your cut. The oil will make the plexiglass bead and not melt. This is an old Air Force trick. Happy cutting

All good info - thank you. I seem to remember the tape, didn't know about the oil, but I can tell you now I can cut circles with a scroll saw all day, but an 8' straight line! not a chance

Maybe Home Depot would at least do the main cuts and then I could do the radius at the top.

Does it just snap into the door? Or do you have to add brackets.

Tape a straight edge along the tape and rest the scroll saw against it.
