Sunday project

Finally replaced the POS Frigidaire convection microwave. Ran into a sale on a GE Profile and was able to special order it in black. Exact same size although of course all the mounting holes are different.

Love this thing - amazingly fast preheats (like 4 minutes to 400 degrees) and very intuitive to use.

Vaughn,

Did the vent line up with the original? Also, is the GE-Profile a standard microwave or combo with convection?

We have the same in ours. We like it. And it is a combo.

Guy - yes to both. Convection and the vent lines up also. Just be really careful with the new template and measure twice side to side to make sure.

Love the oven. Cinnamon rolls this morning in 20 minutes total including heating.

OK, you gave us the Model Series, how about the specific Model Number?? I looked and it looks like there are numerous version in that series.
Ours is still working, but every now and then it will preheat and then stop.

Michelle, sorry about that ! Picture of model number should be in this post. My apology if sideways, iPad does that and I haven’t figured out how to correct.

My Frigidaire was doing similar things. Was taking forever to preheat and then it wouldn’t allow cook time to be set. And sometimes just quit after a few minutes.

Vaughn, thanks for the info. And, the cinnamon rolls sound wonderful!

Beware of those Frigidaire convection microwaves. Ours wasn t in the recall but last year at this time the convection oven would just come on anytime it wanted to. We only realized it because we smelled something burning. We would unplug it every time we left the fifth wheel until we could replace it. Replaced with LG microwave only. The Frigidaire scared us so bad we could never buy another with convection without worrying about. It.

I installed a GE Profile Convection Microwave in our 38FL a few years ago, perfect fit just different mounting holes. Love our GE Profile, cook all kinds of stuff in it, works great.

I don't like my micro in the 2015 31SL, it is not convection. Will put up with it for a while longer as I replaced my propane oven with a toaster/convection oven. The most annoying thing about the Frigidaire micro is that it keeps beeping when done even when it is opened.

About the only thing we like on our Frigidaire are the lights above the stove. Does the GE have lights under it?

The GE has LED over the stove lights with two levels of brightness and also in the cooking area so that you can see the color of the rolls without opening door.

Really happy with it.

Tell me more about how you replaced your propane oven with toaster/ convection oven. My oven does not work well, heats very inconsistent. Sometimes takes forever to preheat then once the baked goods are in never reaches the set temp again. Furrion says 10 degrees for ever 100 is normal but sounds like bull to me. Never had this issue with other gas ovens.

We are attempting to install the same convection/micro combo in our 2012 36FL. We got it in, but the door won't open, the new microwave is not as deep as the one we removed.

Did you run into the same issue? Now we have to take it down and figure out how to put some blocking in the back without making a gap between the vent of the microwave and the opening in the wall.

Any insight would be appreciated!

I had to modify the cabinet on the hinge side to be able to open the door.
Nobody notices it unless they are looking for it.
