Thomas Payne Power Theater Seating 68” Failure

My chairs electronics have stopped working. Has anyone modified them to work the recliner motor and bypass the cup holder switches and control box? I don’t need the lights, cup cooler, massager, heat.

Unbolted the electric motor reclining mechanism from the chairs today. Workable to manually recline and back. Won’t be paying for electronic controllers. Hoping I can wire in a switch to just the motor: https://youtu.be/u0Lm3P1U7UQ

I would assume you checked all the connections. One of ours kept freezing and would not respond to inputs. Control panel was still lit but no button inputs were possible. I pulled the control box and disconnected all the wiring. Checked everything with a multimeter. Pulled the cover off the control box looking for anything obvious but did not find anything. Put it all together and it worked. After that it quit working just about every time we moved. I would disconnect all the wires and plug back in and things would work for a little while. Did this for a little while and now its been close to a year everything is working consistently without any attention from me.

I jiggled, pushed, pulled and bent wires looking for a bad connection but never actually found one.

Not sure any of this helped you but these chairs do seem to be an issue. What you are attempting should be doable though. We are talking replacement because we don’t find these chairs comfortable at all. Plus the chair is just way to small for a 6’-1” guy.

Yep, it will work. Unbolted motor mechanism this morning and stripped some wires. Reversing the wires reversed the motor.

Going to wire in this switch: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001PNHALS?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image.

Agreed these aren’t the most comfortable chairs or big enough, but are good enough for us and will save $$$$.

Got it done and works great! No functions hooked up other than the recliner motor, don’t see the need for all the other functions. Used a switch per above and fabbed a switch holder on the outboard armrest side for each chair.

Good deal….. We are going to start looking again for replacements. Just got back from a quick trip to CO and now the wife is complaining about the comfort of these chairs. I didn’t even say anything. When that happens, it’s as good as done.
