My bride and myself are thinking of buying a 36 ft redwood. I can find no information whether a slider is needed or not. I can see the shape of the nose cone it may allow a turn but I just want to make sure.

I will be pulling my Redwood with a short bed truck. No slider is needed with the Redwood which is one of their selling points and I believe is in their brochure. Welcome to the group and I hope you buy a Redwood. I've looked at trailers and motor homes for the last several years and can't find anything that can compare across the board.
I see by your name, you must like airplanes....I'm an airplane nut myself. I used to camp up at Oshkosh the last week of July.

I'm an aircraft mechanic with an inspectors authorization. With over 30 years exp I left the field to work in the gas and oil drilling industry. The decision was purely financial. I still love my aircraft.

I took lessions for a while and seriously considered buying an airplane for my business. If you ever go to Oshkosh let me know, I found a neat little campground up there in the sticks just 8 miles off the tarmac

We are finalizing delivery of our 36FL Coach today. We have a sliding hitch as we have a 2008 dodge dully, mega cab with a short bed (6 1/2 ft). We are using the 18K Superglide hitch as we needed that hitch with our previous 5th wheel trailer. We have yet to hook up and go but by Friday that will not be the case. We will re-post how things worked.

Congratulations. Please let us all know how your delivery process went. These Redwoods are sure fine looking rigs and I'm sure you are excited and anxious to get that cross country trip with the Grand kids started.
Happy trails and safe travels

With a slider you get a full 90 degree turn on a 6 1/2 ft bed ...The turn radius shows to be 88 degrees...might want to mov into your turn extremely slow in a practice turn with someone outside the vehicle to be sure you dont't damage your cab or rear window

My dealer recommended I go with a slider in my 6 1/2 ft bed. Although its not really necessary with the Redwood unless you want to make a full 90 degree turn. I have been using the slider on occasion when I'm forced to hitch up at an angle and my tailgate gets way to close to the front of the trailer. I could put a 5er friendly tailgate on my truck, but the wife really likes the integrated backup camera in the factory tailgate.

I'm not going to go with a slider because I want to be able to take the hitch out. Otherwize I'd go with the automatic slider. I agree with your wife, I spent too much money on my back-up camera to loose it. Besides I haveone of those aluminumrolling covers that I keep closed when the trailer is unhooked so I can keep things safe.

OK, here's what I know from extensive reading on other Forums:
Just about all major Mfrs now have user friendly front caps soIF you are extremely careful and the ground is perfectly level you're good to go with your short bed. But in Real World situations you will find the 5er tilting one way while the TV is tilting the other in that 90 degree turn into the most beautiful spot in the CG when you'll hear that loud popand your back window hits you in the back of the head. Check out any of the other forums and you can read for your self the stories of rear window knocked out by "Short Bed Friendly Fifth Wheels". The Slider Hitch is like any other Insurance Policy, you hope you never need it, but are glad you have it when you need it.

Gonzo, you must have the zip + 4, we're just a little shorter, extended cab long bed dually, so we just need the norm 7 digit zip.
