Michigan camping spots

Hello everyone, we are planning to camp in Michigan this June. Does anyone have any suggestions on good places to camp. A friend suggested Petosky State Park. We have a 36RL, and prefer to go somewhere in middle to upper Michigan.
Thanks.

I'd suggest driving your tow vehicle into any state/national park in wooded areas, whether in Michigan or any other state, prior to hauling your RW into them. From our experience a good many of them have large enough sites for big rigs, or claim to have, but getting to them due to big rocks &/or trees lining the roadways can be hazardous manuerving to them.
Sorry can't help with Michigan UP RV sites!

Don’t I know that too well. Already had to put a new roof on the RW.
Thanks

We like Algonac State Park on the St. Clair River in Eastern Michigan. You can view the Freighters going North and South.

I have stayed at Sault St. Marie at June Ausborn(?), which is a city campground, but you need to get your reservations in early January as it fills up fast. Great views of the big boats going through the locks. Lots to do in the area. I have also stayed at Straights state park on the north side of the big bridge which provides very easy access to the ferry's going to Mackinaw Island. You will want to stay in the upper sections towards the road as I have a rig size similar to yours. Finally, I have stayed at Ispheming at Country Village RV park. Nice little park, but was only there for one night as we are passing through from Duluth to Sault St. Marie.

We spend a lot of time in NW Michigan as we have a vacation home near Gaylord. We have been by Petoskey State Park many times but never been in it. There is a really nice KOA on the north side of Petoskey, friends have stayed there. Just outside of Traverse City there is Traverse Bay RV resort. It is a high end RV park with an area dedicated to only large class A motorhomes. The previous owner of our Redwood had it there. You would be 20 min from downtown TC and the peninsulas, many wineries and craft breweries. Within about an hour from Charlevoix, Petoskey and ferry to Mackinac Island . A lot to see and do.

We stayed at the RV resort at TC about two years ago. There were several 5'ers there. Another nice resort is Sunny Brook in the South Haven area. It is about three miles east of 196 on Phoenix Rd. Pretty close to the shops on Lake Michigan.

Petoskey RV Resort is the best place to stay near Petoskey.
KOA is nice, but for about the same price Petoskey RV sites are a lot bigger.
In Michigan, most the State Parks are water hookup only.
