I carry a S&W J frame 642 on my person 99% of the time at the 4:00 position IWB. When traveling, either with the rig or without it, I sometimes include my Bond Arms Rustic Ranger derringer in the cross draw BAD holster loaded with triple ought buck. I have my CHL from Texas. We winter in Arizona which is an open carry state. I choose not to open carry though.

Larry - you're correct. Maryland has to be about the most unfriendly gun state. Hopefully that will improve now that we have a governor who is actually a businessman but we'll see.
I have FL and UT permits which make me legal in 39 states other than the one I live in. Have had my application in to Maryland for a while..

I also subscribe to Michelle's viewpoint ........

Yaa 2 x when the places you were going were humor impaired. As of yesterday in Paris and a little over a month ago in Ottawa I am reconsidering my options to obtain and carry a weapon while travelling... Canada or not.

I converted from anti-gun when the WY prison escapee couple burned down that 5er in a campground a few years ago with the older couple in it. DW was easy to convince.

Didn't that happen in NM? I think I remember reading about it, have actually stopped at the Rest Area the incident began at...

Ya I think it was. I think they actually escaped from AZ and not WY. I think there were 3 and one ran to his girlfriends in WY and was caught, but the other two ran through CO and NM. I believe they were turned in by a ranger because they were camping with no camping gear and it seemed odd.

That one really got me. I think back to all the boondocking and backpacking I've done and how vulnerable I was.

Here is a link to a web site that provides a list of state reciprocity of concealed carry permits.

I'm with you, the jacked-up crack heads don't worry about getting a premit before robbing you at gun point.

Biggest thing to remember is to know the reciprocity laws for ANY state you will be carrying in if you keep the firearm in your tow vehicle, as mentioned there are several states where you can get in serious trouble if caught with a handgun in your vehicle.

While we're on the topic...has anyone who fulltimes and carries gone into Canada and if so what did you do?

Or the woman camping with her daughter and daughters friend in Yellow Stone. They were raped for several days and beaten, killing 2 of them. I believe the daughter survived.

Leave the guns in storage back home. The penalties are severe including confiscating your vehicles and incarceration!

Thanks Brad, appears that several gun owners arrange to leave their firearms at local gun dealers in the US prior to crossing the border and then retrieve them when they return. Should work if you plan to come back into the US at the same place you cross.

I have yet to hear of a first hand account of an RV being searched for weapons. I don't travel with them in the tow vehicle for the most part. You can travel with them unloaded with the ammo and gun kept in separate locations within the Tow Vehicle in most states in the West (California not withstanding).

After the laws changed around here banning those accused of domestic violence from having access to weapons, several small business popped up that accept and store your firearms. I believe they are open to anyone that just wants a safe place to store them.

In New York probably the most gun unfriendly place in the nation, almost any gun shop will store a legally owned firearm for a fee. I know people that had to remove their guns from their home when their children came over for the weekend. It's pretty common though.
Having said that I have a CCW which is rubber stamped business, hunting and target shooting. Obviously there are no recipricals for a NY license. But it's easy enough to get a Utah or Pa nonresident permit.

With all this talk of guns, I just had to post a picture of the new T shirt sent by my daughter.
