The big difference between Canada and the US is we don't need guns were too friendly. There are still a few places where people leave the house unlocked and keys in the car. The wife has always been terrified traveling in the US so many people being murdered. I keep telling her RV people are great people and don't go off the beaten path

Dan, where we live we haven't had to lock the doors or worry about locking the cars, closing the garage door, etc, for the last 15 years. The last year for whatever reason, things are changing. Really sad. Canada you may think is safe and friendly, but look at France. The world is so different now, but I feel safe around RV'ers.

I'm with you. If they don't adhere to the Constitution and Bill of Rights, they won't get any of my money.

I've carried a fire extinguisher for years and have smoke detectors all over my house, yet I've never had a fire. I've sure read about people experiencing fires so I'm always ready.
I'm also ready for the bad guys that prey on innocent people.........I'm not a nice victim.
Shoot...... drink a cup of coffee......... then call the paramedic.

No other sound in this world like a 12ga pump chambering a round. Really neat part is that it makes the same noise unloaded. Sound alone is enough to make dark spots in someone's pants ......

We were in Lynchburg VA. a number of years ago when we first got our Class A. We ended up in a campground with no one in it but us. A (friend) of the owner stopped in told us to stay in any site and if interested there was a store /restaurant down the street. It looked like something out of Deliverance. We made the trip down to the store just to check it out and that weird (friend)walked in watching us, just to freaky. In the morning there was a bill on our windshield and no one anywhere in site. We started carrying a Winchester Defender 12 g after that. A friend of ours told us it was illegal to carry it and we'd end up in more trouble for carrying it. It'll be going in our new rig after reading all this...Shane we have a 3 lb yorkie to defend us also ..lol but like piper guy nothing like the sound of a 12g

Federal law states that anywhere you have a bed.....tent,camper, hotel or even a card board box is considered a residence . No state is allowed to prevent you from defending your place of residence. Where the laws get sticky from state to state is.....right to carry on person or auto. Since an RV of any type has a bed, it is seen as a residence. As a residence, a search warrant is required to be searched.
None of this is true if you travel through our neighboring countries to the North or South.

This is my avatar on a few sites I visit - sad, but true in too many of the states... usually where the worst crime is
what's that other saying?
"Police a minutes away when seconds count!"

I grew up in Alberta Canada where we used to all have a rifle rack in the back window of our trucks... frowned upon now... But after Ottawa and Paris...
Plan on doing a lot of travelling in the USA now that I am retired... going to Alaska in 2016... may have to figure out how/where to stow a weapon in the RV.
Spent 10 yrs in the Cdn Reserve... we used to joke about being troubleshooters... see someone who looks like trouble... you may have to shoot them.
