Road trip August 2015

On the road again. We will be heading from Waco to Atlanta (Stone Mountain RV Park) to New Orleans (KOA East) to Gavelston (Tiki Toms RV Park). Has anyone stayed at any of these parks or know of better parks in these areas.

We are heading to Stone Mountain Park in a couple of weeks for a week on our way to the Redwood Rally.
We always stay there when we are working in the Atlanta area, it works for us.

Thanks for the response. We are looking forward to the trip. Our son lives in Atlanta and will have a week of family camping. Hope you have a great and safe trip. We were originally planning on the Rally but our son really wanted to come see their new home. Maybe next year.

We drove through tiki toms in Galveston. It was clean and nice lots, although tight. It is on the bay side not the ocean but easy to get in and out of. We were staying on the north end of Houston at the time with a day trip to Galveston. Have fun.

We just got back from the trip. We put 3050 miles on and all went very well. Saw some great places (will post photos this weekend, hopefully) and averaged 11.0 MPG overall. No complaints.

We are spending one more week at Black Bear CG in Florida, New York, then next Saturday we move to Cherry Hill RV Park in College Park MD for about 2 weeks.
After we finish in the MD area we will head to Mount Pleasant / North Charleston, SC in September.

Robert, you'll be in our neck of the woods. Have you been to Cherry Hill before? Nice CG and very convenient to the Metro, which comes in handy for DC viewing.

Yep Vaughn, we have been to Cherry Hill several times before over the years we will arrive on Saturday 8/29.

I will be working in the Baltimore / DC area for a couple of weeks

We will be there Labor Day weekend but have to leave and head South on Friday 9/11, not looking forward to traveling out of the DC area on a weekday, we normally try to travel thru or to metro areas on the weekend as typically traffic is a little lighter.

Leaving out of Cherry Hill on a Friday will not be that bad IF you do some planning.. Try to hit 95 right around 10ish... The morning commute will be done with , and the Friday afternoon crap is almost ready ... It's actually the points just South of DC that are worse... Manasas ...Fredicksburg.... They put in new lanes that are done , they are called express lanes and they do take traffic off of the main highway ..( no trailers allowed) I will be in Richmond that whole week and will be moving down to the Racetrack (RIR) on Friday for the weekend .. Possibly going to Williamsburg after...

I have been going through Fredricksburg twice a year since 1999 and rt.95 is always backed up around the Jefferson Davis Hwy exit with no apparent reason except merging traffic. Am I missing something here?

Thanks for the info, hope we get lucky when leaving the DC area.

I travel that way every 5 weeks ... From SE PA to Richmond and the worse part of the entire trip is the Fredricksburg area.. But I have found that there is a break in the jams south of DC between 10ish and noon... Or close.. Now when we came North through that area 2 weeks ago on a Saturday , 95 South was backed up for many , many miles for no reason... We went through that area around 9:00 am on a Saturday ...if it concerns you , take 50 east to 301.. And run 301 down through Carmel Church and back on 95 at mile marker 104 v just above Richmond..
