We are all in this together

Today was a good day. Today I saw a fifth wheel trailer and tow vehicle stopped along side the roadway. This couple's TV was broken down. I pulled over to see if I could help in anyway I could. The gentleman seemed a little upset about the ordeal. With further questions and conversation, come to find out that the insurance he has tows one or the other that needs repair but not both. After talking with him I found that he was going to be staying about 40 miles from the breakdown point. I told him not to worry and I offered to haul him and his wife to the CG with the RV in tow, and the dealership can come pick him up when the TV was fixed, or he can get a rental car. Long story short.... All went well and they arrived on time for the CG and I helped them get settled...........Now I was thinking if we knew the general location of our members, i.e. I live in south East Tennessee or if you want to add your town that okay too. We could, in need, know who to PM if times were desperate. What do you think? I know a lot of us full-time but it seems to me someone maybe close.

That was an excellent thing you just did. I wish there were more people in this world that would do the same. Apparently you and I were brought up in the same day and age where we help people in distress. I would have no problem putting out a generalized location of where I am at to help fellow Rver's

Actually I am recently retired so I really had nothing better to do today. If I would had more time I probably could have fixed it. I just don't really know how or where to place the roll call list. Maybe some of the Mods could help. What a reassuring thing to know that your brother and sisters could be near by to help.

The Montana Owners Club had a help network of members. It was voluntary, and you just agreed to publish your location and phone number on a list that the officers held on to and could be contacted to find someone local. Seemed to be an easy but effective system. Only Montana owners could access the list, and you weren't committed to help, but I think all calls were answered.

This weekend I posted in redwood spotting there was a redwood from Ontario in the campground. Bradpajax answered right away to say hello but could use a hand. He had a mishap (I'll let him tell you what happened) in the morning he was up and running.
We are in this together and I was glad to be there to help.
What were the chances though. LOL

We were in a fix a year ago August. Barton's knee replacement became infected and he had to be rushed to a hospital 100 miles from our campground. I was left behind with the RW and truck. I drive the truck, but I don't pull the house. We had Travel Assist insurance, so I called only to find out that it could take weeks to get a driver and they won't hitch it for you. Our neighbor in the little campground learned of our predicament and offered to pull our RW to the city where Barton was hospitalized and help me get set up at the campground there. We are only now making plans to get back on our journey. Angels do exist and now we will be looking to pay it forward. We'll be happy to help a fellow RW owner, but I believe Angels just happen to be where God puts them for the task at hand.

You could use a google app to build a semi=private member map of locations for those that could be willing to assist... just a thought...

This forum was a significant reason we chose Redwood, because I saw the love of the members helping each other out. We do this "We are all in this together" already, and adding in a method for hands-on help would be a bonus. We will be FTing next year. I could see us breaking camp if needed to travel nearby to help a fellow RVer. Especially with a medical situation like the Hammonds. Yep, I'm in!

Count me in as well. I think some form of interactive database or map locator would be excellent. We have been on the go since full timing began in June but would be happy to update a location periodically to help someone in need. Currently in Southwest Utah enjoying the perfect time of the year!

I am listed on the Good Sam - Standby Sams site, but no one has called me yet.

This is a great idea. If some how a section could be created where we could post our home city. Along with a contact number that would be great. Maybe we could not fix the problem but at least steer the person in need to the correct place for help. Yup I'm in.

This idea has kind of been in my head lately. I am coming up with ideas for an application of some sort. Would this feature be something you guys would be interested in if this was capable inside an app for your phone? There could be a Redwood RV application which could have optional gps location services active when using it. This way people could see distances in relation to one another. Like someone in here said earlier we might be able to use the google maps software for this. Just an idea at this point but I like the thought process guys.
