Baloon Festival Albuquerque

Anyone go to the Baloon Festival in Albuquerque? I think I saw Dave and Ginny leaving out of there on I-25 south on Monday if his toad is black. I was heading north to Los Alamos from the airport and it was like an open floodgate of RVs heading every which way. I heard on the flight back the winds shut down some of the better weekend activities.

We were there a few years back and the weather was perfect. A sight that will be hard to beat, especially the night before.

I saw 2 Redwoods at the Balloon Fiesta and was wondering if either of those coaches were members here.

From what I hear, the first week was a little messed up but we were there the second week and we were impressed. This was the friendliest bunch of people we’ve ever met. The entire city was friendly and joking. This is a MUST for your bucket list. The balloon teams were equally friendly and inviting. As we stood and watched 600 balloons inflate at 5am the teams invited those around them to get closer and watch.

We were there for 5 days and will be going back again.

Right now we’re sitting in a Walmart in Page Az and at sun up we head to Bryce Canyon Utah for some star gazing and maybe a few adult cocktails.

Happy Trails everyone!

We were there a few years ago with Fantasy RV Tours and were on the grounds across the street from the Balloon Launch field. The winds were right so the Balloons lifted off and went right over us. We had 30 amp power & water. A little pricey, but well worth it.

We stayed in the KOA park north of Albuquerque a few miles & they directed us to a shopping mall where we caught a shuttle for very reasonable price that dropped us off/picked us up right at the grounds. The shutlles had the ROW so no traffic delays, which was horrible, & I didn't have to fight it. Also the KOA had free pancakes & coffee every morning. If planning to go next year get reservations NOW.

We were there for 5 days (wed. Through Sunday). The winds Saturday night and Sunday morning prevented any launching. The fireworks on Friday and Saturday were the best I’ve ever seen.

We stayed just west of town in American RV which was a nice place with full 50 amp hookups. Each morning it took us about 20 minutes to get to the mall and it was an easy drive. I know of some people who camped in the dry camping area near the field and I understand that it’s very dusty there.
