Mor-Ryde IS alternatives

Has anyone looked at alternatives to the Mor-Ryde IS, such as Dexter Airflex or Torflex?

Brad,
Does Trailar center point air-ride qualify as an alternative? I know, it's a Lippert product....and I do understand your feeling regarding them. I had it installed last January and done a reasonable amount of towing to Arizona, Utah, Oregon and California. Been a good upgrade for us.

I agree
I only have 5000 miles on mine but there has been nothing out of place when stopping for the night. Never had the MorRyde so can not compare

Oh I like the Centerpoint. Does it come in different shackle heights? I have to to the 2-3/4" because of my 8K springs (second leaf is too long and hits taller shackles).

Brad

Last year we broke down in Utah (spring) and was refitted with Dexter EZ Flex and new springs with wet bolt kits and heavy duty shackles. Trailer seemed to pull truer after the equa-flex was removed and this substituted (according to our caravan partner). Don't know how this compares to what you're talking about.

Brad,
I know there was a height issue. One of the factory guys from Lippert did the install at Quartzsite. I don't know exactly how he addressed the issue... Check this out:
Center Point®

Mine doesn't have the shocks.

Oh no! What happened that caused you to need springs?

Ya, that's the one Ken. I would have to see how my springs aligned with those shackles.

I had the IS on my last RW and like it but not 3k worth. I am planning on installing the SRE4000 which gives more travel like the IS and adding a shock kit like the IS. The difference will be a little less travel than the IS and will not be independent. But for $700-$900 I can live with that.

Ron, do you have 7K axles? There was a conflict with the SRE4000 and the 8K

I meant it comes with 3 different length of shackles depending on where your spring eye is positioned. It has a template you use to measure your existing setup prior to removal

Ah I see. So you have to order it with a specific shackle length? I have new shorter shackles from Redwood to cure my conflict, but I haven't put them on yet. I should do that first to see if it fixes it first I guess before I order anything else.

I didn't buy the IS system but it's kind of hard to ignore the independent suspension, customized axle adjustment from side to side and the increase to a greater axle rating. The cost would be a factor but I think in time, had I kept with a 5er I would have migrated that way.

Brad

We were traveling to AZ last winter and stopped for fuel in southern Utah, a guy at the fueling station showed me our suspension and a broken spring. He replaced all four springs and both the trail air ez whatever with dexter ez flex to get us back on the road. I submitted the bill to Redwood and after some wrangling they covered the entire parts and labor bill. Can't say enough about Redwood customer service and warranty coverage.

Thanks Jim, I didn't know that happened to you and I'm sorry it did. I'm glad it's all fixed up.
